so that's enough   :?: from you thank you ;)

don't want either. I don't like the metroid series, and the pinball is apparently pretty boring after the first 10 minutes - and I'd rather get the ds lite rumble pack

I'd like to see meteos/animal crossing/dawn of sorrow amongst others in a sale sometime :)

Anyway, this is getting off topic so that's enough of that

Lot of stores start early, look out for many cheap Xbox games that are marked down on generic barcodes like the halo kit above (i.e. our store had Destroy All Humans and Alien Hominid for only £3.99 each).

Plus Alien Head Boxsets on sale within the next day or 2 for £49.99.

IlMoro
20-06-2006, 23:00
Most of the Gamecube (big stores only) & XBOX games have been marked down. Otherwise a lot of 2.99 DVDs including colllateral (Single), Matrix, revisted, Revolutions, Animatrix with CD, Shawshank, Election, Sideways 3.99

More recent stuff includes Serenity, History of Violence, Kinky Boots 7.99-£9.99

So very tempted by the Alien Quadrilogy head set though, figure I could use the voucher and get it for £44.95 which almost seems worth it for such a ludicrously over the top piece of packaging! Would be a definite purchase if I didn't have the original R1 release of the 4 films.

Has anyone who brought House Season 1 is able to confirm that it has no subtitles ?

Given that it says "Subtitles: none" on the box, I think that's pretty conclusive. It's the ones which don't mention subtitles on the box at all that annoy me most.

It's a right pain about House - all along I've been telling my mates "I'll watch it when it comes out on DVD", and now I can't. I'm really surprised that a popular new show like that doesn't rate any subtitles at all.

Some of the larger stores might get that in, however system price is £39.99...not such a massive reduction.

As for the cheap games like Half-Life 2, they are marked down from an obsolescent list, some of the Philips MP3 players had money knocked off, as well as some PS2 and Xbox games and even board games from Xmas.....trouble is that it varies from store to store so there's no uniform discount.

Just shop around for the cheapy, cheap stuff.

Tell me about it esp the R1 version is not anarmorphic for some daft reason!!!! I am seething at this idiocy. Mind you now i know it 4:3, it takes the pain away somewhat.

I'm going for a Barton Fink too.. probably the Coen's best film. Could have picked it up instore today, but like the idea of making them pay for p&p. I think some of the prices on the website are cheaper than in-store.

IlMoro
22-06-2006, 22:12
Some of the larger stores might get that in, however system price is £39.99...not such a massive reduction.

As for the cheap games like Half-Life 2, they are marked down from an obsolescent list, some of the Philips MP3 players had money knocked off, as well as some PS2 and Xbox games and even board games from Xmas.....trouble is that it varies from store to store so there's no uniform discount.

Just shop around for the cheapy, cheap stuff.

You might find its just a case of some stores not having down the markdown yet as well.

Sorry if this has been asked. Is there a direct full DVD sales link?

On average how much cheaper are they in store? I have a £10 Gift Voucher I've been meaning to spend, usually HMV are a rip off so I've not been able to.

I'm tempted by Gladiator but would prefer the R1 (both cuts, just in case) but it's so expensive. I'll pick up TCAT though.

id heard the r1 boxset was best but in terms of uk r2.. ive seen two different styles of packaging.. is there a difference in content? its rear window & vertigo im looking to get...
Different cover art same discs.

Vertigo UK R2 is fine (not as remastered as the R1 though) but Rear Window is P&S. If you want the best Vertigo it's still the R1 but as it's only part of the box set it doesn't interest me.

Anyway, just bagged from my local HMV Emporium...

Spirited Away
Memento - 3 disk
Rear Window
and... The Birds.

Wonder if that should read 'The Bird'. Just hope that not too many of them hiding in the side areas of the screen I'm missing. :dork: ;)

With a £12 gift card, that little lot set me back less than £4 of gold coins.

Exactly the same order I placed :)

Now just need a cheap copy of the R1 Network SE to materialise & it will complete the Controversial Classics 2 box set at a fraction of the price.

Damn! Didn't have time last night. Now £13.99 online...

(Although Begins is 4.99 and the other SEs are 7.49!)

Picked up the Audrey Hepburn collection as advertised on TV.

12.99 is a good price.
It's a cracking price and I was tempted BUT "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is the Original DVD NOT the Remastered version (only on R1 at the moment). The original DVD is a mess in comparison to the Remastered DVD it's grain heaven.

Still you could always sell that DVD which I was also considering but the pink Remastered cover would really stand out against the white of the others.

Was The Birds not in the sale at the start?

Went over to order it and its gone upto £9.99

£8.99 now. Maybe it'll be back to £2.99 soon.

(A very Long Engagement 2-disc - £4.49's a good price)

Yeah, I checked last night and it's the 'regular' edition (with a trailer).

Roman Holiday is a SE.

Nevermind, I'll pick the SE of BaT up anyway... I'll wait for a R2 release and compare.

:(

The one I got instore was in a black box. But that could be just an old image.
Aren't they showing an image from inside the box?

My Fair Lady 2 Disc SE is £5.99, they're selling the 1 disc version for about the same price in store.

Why in case it's a white cover?

No, the image showing the white box is the old Audrey Hepburn set. The new one has a black box. I made a joke about not minding paying the extra quid for the black box but I'm not really bothered what colour it is.

Err... no, to compare extras and transfers.

I already have the big LD BS of My Fair Lady and the R1 SE.

i put Edward Scissorhands @2.99 into my basket and it showed up at 12.99. what gives? does this signal the end of the sale price or just a website malfunction?

Did you try clearing your cookies?

The UK R2 is cut btw. The R1 LE Tin is cheap at CD-Wow.com (50p off!) (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.cd-wow.com/index.php?affid=15561). It's well worth the price I bought it recently.

Has anyone had the Dog Day Afternoon SE through yet - should there be a booklet? Mine didn't have one.

charlie angel - My R1 doesn't have a booklet, and i'd be surprised to see Warners doing one especially for R2 peeps. I stand to be corrected though....:)

On a similar note - has anyone received their Matrix 10disc set for £16.99 recently. I ordered it on Monday - said it would ship within 24 hrs - but having checked today, it still hasn't shipped, still says it should ship in 24 hrs...but the price has gone up to £39.99 :(

Err... no, to compare extras and transfers.
Is there a "Breakfast at Tiffany's" UK R2 on the way? Knowing Paramount it will be identical. I hope the cover is white this time.

The new transfer is much, much better but the extras are rubbish. Not that I really cared I upgraded for the picture quality.
