Has anyone ever used one of these, or currently using one? Looking for any feedback on the banks that offer them etc.

I got one from HSBC a few years ago.

I didn't know there was such a thing and that gives me hope - what would be classed as professional studies? ie. what level of qualification?

Post-graduate courses mainly, e.g. Masters degrees.

Also some undergrad - in my case Vet medicine, also covered are:

Architect
Chartered Engineer
Dentist
Doctor
Optometrist/Optician
Pharmacist
Solicitor/Barrister
Teacher

This list is from Barclays but I've seen similar with the other banks, from what I can gather some have restrictions - like only being available in the final couple of years of degree, some allow you to take one from year one if mature student.

Hmm...I appear to be answering my own question!

Dan - did you find the whole application process quite simple?

Suprisingly easy, they invited me in for a chat and approved the loan there and then.

i was gonna go for one of these with hsbc but managed to get a sponsorship instead. i think it'll be quite easy to get the loan as long you have a good credit history cos at the end of the day its like any other other loan but you can defer the payment till you finish the course.

Bump of this thread to have a small rant.

HSBC and Barclays have both dropped their professionals studies loans, leaving Natwest as the only player in the market.

As of Monday just gone they changed their variable rate from 2% above base to 7% above base!! Their fixed rate is 8.65%, making the variable a total waste of time.

I've got no choice but to take one of these and will, obviously, be going for the fixed rate. Just really annoyed that they can get away with this. Even the graduate manager I saw was quite shocked by the announcement.
