Yos,

I'm off to the Peak District next week and thought I'd have a go at some landscape photography while I'm there. I've got a Cokin P series filter holder and adaptor ring (off good old ebay) but now need some advice on which graduated filter to buy.

I've narrowed it down to the P121L Grad. Neutral Grey G2-Light ND2 1(1 fstop) and the P121M Grad. N. Grey G2-Medium ND4 (2 fstops). Basically I just mainly want to avoid blowing out the sky highlights.

Any hints/recommendations?

Cheers,
Taq

i tend to use the darker nd4 the most on mine for daylight and have used the nd2 for sunsets. i guess it depends on the light levels you think youll be working with the most.

Cheers. It'll be mostly daytime - mid morning to mid afternoon.

Cam city centre seems to have sold out of ND4's so it looks like a quick cycle ride to KPProf at coffee break :)

TBH I really wouldn't bother with the ND2 filter, might even be worth finding one which is higher than ND4... Think ND2 is fine for film, because they do have a wider dynamic range, whilst digital hasn't.

Should be fun, have a laugh at their s/h prices, always good for a giggle!

bizarrely Jessops (next to Borders) have a Canon 70-200F4L in their display cabinet for £489 - perhaps they're trying to go up market ;)

Well I risked life and limb cycling down Hills Road and back and now have a ND4 grad filter. Here's hoping for some nice (ie dry) weather next week!
