On sale now by Loewe is the first 40" CRT tv for £3,600, with dolby digital sound and a crisp 100hz flicker free tube.

I didn't think it was possible. I have the Sony KV36FS and I have been reading that it would be impossible to manufacture a bigger screen.

They've been proved wrong.

This tv is not a flat screen, but at 40" i guess that would be impossible. As a compromise between tubed, and rear projection it is fairly tempting,if you have £4000 spare for tv and the stand.:)

Just out of interest,Sony have had a 40" crt 16:9 in the states for about 6 months.
There was also a lesser known make who had one out over there when I went last.Just can't remember the name.

I am led to believe the Sony 40" is now available in the UK but ive yet to see it advertised anywhere.
The screen size is said to be 56% bigger than the 32"..............Drool, Drool !!

yeah, it's a HDTV in the states.

Napoleon: From what I've read in HCC it says that it uses the companys Super Flatline picture tube. It's got a flat widescreen picture and 40 inches at that.

No it isn't, and no, we won't!!! :p

HDTV is high definition TV, with higher resolution than anything we have, or are likely to have anytime soon, in Europe.
