My wife has just been given one of these as a new company phone and because we are a)old and b)only ever had nokia's, we can't make any sense of the damm thing.
It seems that touching any button results in the animated walkman W being displayed with the wording 'searching' above it - what is it doing? and how do you stop it?
She is getting to grips with the other facilities but this feature is v.annoying.
Help! thanks.
ooooo, can I be the first to say - have you tried reading the manual? ;)

The back button stops practically everything... if you lookin to lock the keypad its * and Enter (Button Top Right hand corner)
It's easy to use once you get used to it.... :)

The animated walkman W is just the phone's background, it can be changed to a static one in the menu.
Searching implies it hasn't found the network yet.

Jeff,
Tell her to pass the phone onto me and she can have use of my Nokia 6230i :D
Crazy thing is, that is what she was expecting ...
Story goes like this ...
1. Had a 6230 for a couple of years (personal and work phone).
2. Changed jobs got given a Sony Ericsson with the typically bizarre interface - so put the work SIM card into my old nokia so she could at least use it.
3. On monday, Orange ring offering a her a free upgrade to her 6230 so she chooses a 6230i intending to put the work SIM in that (and have two similar phones for personal/work - sorted)
4. New phone arrives from Orange and it's a Sony Ericsson W800i !!! anyway transfers work SIM to this and can't use it (so I get it in the ear).
Thanks to those who responded
- the animated W is indeed the backdrop and has now been fixed.
- Orange is supposedly out of action around here today so that's why it's 'searching' the whole time.
