View Full Version : Couple of Qs on BBCs HD
i dont have sky/freeview etc anymore but want to check out what the BBC are broadcasting. the samples i've grabbed off the net are sweet! :D
i would think i need a DVB-T card to pickup whats being broadcast but would i need an aerial on the house (which i dont have)? or would something that hooks up via USB2 be enough?

unless you're in a specific zone and have the required hardware, its DVB-S you need, not DVB-T.

Yeah, using DVB-T for the BBC HD trial is dependant upon you being close to the Crystal Palace Transmitter. If you're not then you won't be able to access BBC HD this way. If you are close enough then you could use an indoor aerial to pick it up, you may not need a roof aerial.
cool guys. how do you find this out? (what zone you're in).
i'm in the liverpool city centre btw

i'm in the liverpool city centre btwIt's only in London that I know of, apparently on the Crystal Palace terrestrial transmitter. Once the trial completes, HD over DVB-T will presumably be rolled out nationwide - they may wait until analogue broadcasts are switched off though.
In the meantime, you can get HD over DVB-S (satellite), either through SkyHD, or a non-subscription method.
