I need to decide if I go for a Nokia N80 now or wait a few weeks for the N73... :help:

I am really torn between the 2 so thought I would asks the experts, ie my fellow forumers. I think the N73 lacks wi-fi but on the flip-side it has a better camera (not sure I will use either the wi-fi or the camera but it is useful to know)...

Ignoring the cost and ignoring other phones, if a straight choice was offered between the 2 which should I go for an why? (I could add the N91 into the equation but I think from reading posts already that the N80 is a better choice than the N91 unless of course you know different :) )

If you can hold off i would say have a play with them instore and see what you think.
I don't know about the other phones you mention but i know the N80 has wireless and a 3mb pixel camera which is nice (although the camera doesn't have auto focus), it also runs on the Symbian OS 9.1 which means you can install lots of apps. :)

Have had a quick look at a mates N80 - very nice format, nice size, good functionality...I'm now after one ;)

I picked up an N80 last week, and I must say I'm very impressed. Plenty of functionality and a nice clean looking interface, pretty nice screen on it too.

I've got an N80 and it's pretty nifty.

Couple of problems though - the battery life isn't too hot and it runs the latest version of the Symbian software and programs designed for older versions aren't compatible.

Agreed - the number of apps you can use on the N80 at the moment is only a handfull. Mind you, it's only been out a short while so more s60v3 versions of applications will be along for sure.

As to the phone - I agree the battery life is weaker compared to some phones you can get - but when it's running 3g, WiFi, Bluetooth, Video Camera, GPRS can you be surprised?

I've had it a N80 a couple of days now and I really like it. My previous mobile was a ageing SE P800.

As for which phone to go for.. what is the killer app for you? If it's the camera functions, then you might as well wait for the N73 and it's autofocus - although the MP of both phones is very close.

Personally, the N73 looks a little chunky for my taste. Not keen on flips either. :)

Whilst I'm in a N80 thread, did any of you other new N80 owners get a PIN and PIN2 code supplied with your new sim card? My phone says it has the codes already but I don't know them. Tried 1234 and my old PIN code (had my number transferred so thought my PIN might have moved too) but neither worked :(

Fatbloke - didn't get the PIN codes with mine. Tried the usual ones and locked myself out. Had to ring Orange to get the PUK code. Good service once I got through (that only took 1 hour though!)

Best I leave well alone then!
I'll be using the 'lock' code to secure the phone - that one arrives unset on the phone :)

What I've been doing when ringing Orange recently, press the right numbers to get through to the Cancellation place, then just explain your problem as if they're the normal CS people, and they should put you straight through to the right place. No waiting around

My mate has an N80, and the battery life is crap - the number of times he's told me he's not phoned me back, or missed a call because his battery ran out is a bit rubbish really... it's also a bit of a lump, and all the features just seem gimmicky as hell - what's the point in the a 3mp camera with no optical zoom?

I can't say I'm particularly impressed by it at all really.

N80 is a bit chunky IMO.
