i saw unbreakable just now for the second time, and on this viewing decided it was one of the best films ive seen, excellent in every way - thing is this time round i watched by myself without the guy who says "this films crap this" all the way through, or the people who cant stay awake, the people who are more interested in the snacks, etc, etc - see im not usually annoyed by the disinterested others, andthe first time round i found myself pretty nonplussed by unbreakable. i think its pretty much the first time ive watched a film by myself, and now im going to have to watch everything i own again to see how good it really is.

So, do you watch by yourself or with other people, and is that the way you prefer it?

Comedies and action flicks (i.e. no brainers) are best watched with friends, because there's always some guy who will crack you up with a stupid laugh :D

I much prefer to watch films which require attention, patience or thought by myself. There's nothing worse than watching a three hours plus film with someone who's not the slight bit interested. And you can give them the care they deserve. :p

First time I saw Memento, I spent half the time rewinding it while my friend kept saying "so, he's who?" and "so this is *before* that, yeah..." - nightmare.

I totally agree, anything that requires attention is one to see yourself of with someone with more than room temperature IQ, whereas comedy is definitely best at the cinema or with friends.

Yes, I wouldn't wanted to watch something along the lines of 'The Insider' with somebody talking/fidgeting/rummaging around to find the last 'Dorito' ..... but watching no-brainer horror flicks and comedies is not so bad.
It's always funny to see somebody else crapping themselves whilst watching a scary film.

I agree, I watched the Insider with 3 mates. When it finished me and one of my mates just thought it was utterly excellent, but the other two thought it was boring. I still can't understand that...

I watched Halloween with my girlfriend and it was literally the same as the scene where they watch it at the end of Scream. I couldn't stop laughing afterwards.

I remember wanting to see The Sixth Sense at the cinema, but missing it for one reason and another, then finally sitting down to watch it on video for the first time with my gf, who got tired and wanted to stop the tape just after the appearance of the girl under the bed. Now that really isn't a film to watch in several sittings.

Nowadays, I try to watch DVDs on my own, then watch them with company afterwards.

I love Unbreakable, and after watching it once in the Cinema I persuaded a mate to go and watch it with me for a 2nd time. Trouble is, said m8 can't keep off the wacky tobacky and that day he'd been on a batch that made him laugh. In a midnight showing of Unbreakable, the point when Samuel L Falls down the stairs my m8 was in fits of laughter so loud the entire auditorium was staring at us!

So no, i'd rather watch a film like 'Unbreakable' alone...but as has already been said comedies and no-brainers are often made better when watched with a group of mates with a bottle in their hands ;) or said m8 with the the giggles cos its often infectous when watching the correct film :D

Schindler's List:

I had two women sitting behind me who decided they were there to do a director's DVD commentary. Except, this consisted of them pointing out to each other what was on the screen, saying "oooh - There's the girl in Red again" and "Isn't this a black and white film? What do you call it if there's red?" It got to the point where comments were coming out like "It's not like Jurassic Park, is it?". The final straw came with the revalation as the credits rolled that the film was "A bit sad." Fortune smiled on the two nice ladies, though, as neither I or any of the people in earshot turned up with guns or knives.
