Oh God! I'm admitting that I actually like a Keane single!! :eek:

It's catchy and very good! :help: :D

Anyone else impressed with Keane's more 'up-beat' sound?? Or is it just me?!! :nuts:

Still not impressed I'm afraid.

It's not that they're bad, just that they're extremely middle of the road. Which is worse in a way.

It's inoffensive. They seem to have switched from being mini-Coldplay to being mini-U2.

Can quite understand them banging on about how they used effect peddles to make the piano sound like guitars. EErrr just use a guitar spoon face.

Doesn't really do it for me. Tbh, I quite liked Keane when they first appeared. I'm beginning to agree with some of the critisisms now though. Very whiney vocals (annoyingly so, as it seems that's all he can do) :brickwall

And it's not all of a sudden. I've disliked Keane ever since I first heard them.

I don't dislike Keane - they just don't make me feel anything at all, which kinda defeats the purpose of their existence.

I liked it as well. Can't beileve the ire directed at them sometimes. Big swing, they might be a bit dull. So what? Don't listen if it offends you.

Quite like their first album. Dont think they sound middle of the road at all, their excellent piano work dispells that fear.

However, this new single DOES sound very much like U2 or Coldplay (i.e. middle of the road :brickwall )

What's with the U2 Fly / Elevation intro riff and then just fading into a standard Keane song...? Is it to make people think that they've evolved into something else?

The song itself doesn't sound anything like a U2 song... just the intro riff which is a balatant rip and lasts for 20secs max, never to be heard again.

Don't get me wrong, I like Keane - kind of somewhere in between the dull as dishwater (except Clocks) Coldplay and the rather good Athlete. Probably on par with (old stylee) Travis for me - not a compliment in some people's books, I know.

Nothing wrong with Keane. I thought Hopes and Fears was a fantastic pop album.

They're not very good these days, I agree, but they've certainly made songs in the past that the likes of Keane or Coldplay will never come close to.
