Mines packed up :(

Im not after alot as its only for a bedroom. I dont want to break the bank either.

But i would like it to have Optical output (As it connects to the Sony Surround set i have in there) and it to be Multi Region.

Any suggestions most appreciated.

Cheers :)

It seems optical outs are getting rarer nowadays, I was looking in Robert Sayles at a range of players inc Pioneer, Toshiba, Sony, Panasonic and none had an optical out, just a coaxial, one of which shared it with the stereo output!

It would appear that this one (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0009IF1Z2/thedvdforums-21) has an optical socket and can be made multiregion via a remote hack [link on website].

A little bit of 'futureproofing' compared to a supermarket cheapie as it has an HDMI socket and is capable of progressive scan. Maybe not as cheap as you would hope for at £84 odd but well worth it for the money.

Is there much difference from Coaxial/Optical?

Im sure there isnt - but ive also gone for optical, if there isnt any difference i dont mind not having a optical slot.

No. If anything, IMO the coax would be a tad more reliable [no dust to cause 'interference' as optical cable ends need to be kept spotlessly clean for good signal transfer]
