Getting a new mobile in the next month or so and I've been looking at a few.

These are:
* There's the LG Chocolate. It looks very nice and seem tiny, but the lack of expansion (no card slot) and the fact it's an LG slightly puts me off - they're hardly renowned for phones. Only a 1mp camera too, and is supposed to have quite a few issues.
* Samsung E900 It's like the Chocolate, only not as pretty, but with an expansion slot, 2mp camera and marginally better battery life. Is this out over here?
* The Nokia N91 looks to have decent specs, but the MP3 features seem a touch unnecessary (I own an iPod) and it seems a bit on the... bloomin' huge side and it's really quite ugly. 2mp camera. Nokia phones all seen to have been beaten with the big and ugly stick these days.
* Motorola RAZR V3im. My main issue is that although it's a nice phone, and nice looking... it is a touch... cliché - everyone has them. And it's in burgandy. It does have the Transflash expansion slot, and is small, but again only a 1mpixel camera. Seems a touch like last years technology.
* Sony Ericcson K800i. Not too fond of these candybar phones, they are kinda big, but a 3mp camera with autofocus.. A main issue these SE models are all about to be superceded and these new models won't be avaliable for months - with the W850 looking the best of the bunch (albiet it has no autofocus and seems a touch large), and they all use hidiously expensive Memory Sticks.
* Then there's the Samsung SGH-X820. I mean, there's not much to say about it yet, just been announced but look at it (http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_ultra_slim_sghx820-news-192.php). 7mm thick for 2megapixel camera and MicroSD. Ooh. Out in a couple of months.

Anything I've missed that's worth bothering with? Anybody got any personal recommendations? As you might be able to tell, I'm completely anally retentive when it comes to choosing what to buy...

I'd get the one that allows you to make a phone call.

Why in the world would I want to do that?!? This is the 21st century. Nobody talks to each other anymore. E-mail, IM, text message but voice to voice contact? Don't be silly.

whaverer you can sell for the most cash and then use existing phone :)

I have just got a razr, seems to make calls and send texts okay.

I'm not paying. I'm using a 3 year old phone (SE Z600) which is on its last legs (it's randomly turning itself off now), so when my Dad gets a contract upgrade in July, he's keeping his phone, an XDA, and I'm getting the new one. :)

For style over function get the LG, I hear Wayne Rooney's girlfriend has one. It's the fashion phone of the moment.

Samsung D600 all you need mate, the nokia ones are like bricks now.
LG chocolate for looks
thought I saw this in the O2 store and its classy as hell: Samsung P300 (http://images.google.com/images?client=safari&rls=en&q=Samsung%20P300&oe=UTF-8&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi)

The Samsung P300 is horrible. It looks like a calculator - it's a very love/hate thing... personally I can't stand it. I'll have a look into the D600.

I've got a Samsung D600, its a great phone and easy to use

The new Nokia phones look very chunky and not pocket sized. Have you thought about any of the new Sony Ericssons ?

I saw the LG and it looked good but I think its style over substance

Get the D800 instead of the D600, why get an old phone? I thought about getting a N91 but I finally got to play with one over the weekend and it's mahoosive.

I bought the LG it is a very Classy Phone indeed . . . if you want gadgets ( that usually are as much use as a paper bag on a phone anyway ) then go for a more technical phone . . . I hear the new Nokias battery life are very poor indeed

Best phone I ever had was the Siemens C35i . . . it is still working today and my Mum has it, wish I never let it go!

What bugs are there supposed to have been with the LG btw ? mines been fine so far

Apparently the LG has a relatively short battery life (~36 hours), there are issues when using the phone for making calls (due to the nature of the touch screen buttons you have to be careful not to mess it up), it's supposed to scratch really easily, the SMS ringtone is very difficult to hear and a few other niggles.

I had an S35i. Good phone, bit too complex to use and it turned out it didn't like water :(

Only thing I did notice with the Battery it gave a false reading the other day showing 3 bars then it died 2 hrs later but it had been on for 4 days with light usage maybe 2 - 3 calls / txts a day, prob will scratch easily as any phone will to be honest but due to the black look might show up alot more on this phone . . . sms tone seems ok to me ? maybe they have it too quiet ? will give the battery a good run . . . what about the bugs though ? I would not class those as bugs but more as design faults
