The buggers haven't credited me but they are using one of my Tilly And The Wall pictures on page 20 of The Independent "Extra's" today.
Tilly's press people got in touch with me yesterday asking for a few of my pictures and they used one (not one of my best) from the London date.
It's a good feeling as I only picked up a camera at the end of November for the first time in years so I've manged to get printed in the "National press" in under 6 months.

Well done Lorne. You must be well pleased.

BTW, have you seen Phoenix's non-credit, also in the Independent a few threads below. Seems like the Independent don't like to give credit where it's due!!

Well done - taken with a Nikon or a Canon? ;)

The Guardian are excellent at crediting, the Indy pretty appalling.

Congratulations mate  You must be well chuffed, although the Indy should acknowledge your moral copyright.

Just mentioned that I had a picture published and what the situation was regarding payment. The girl quoted me a fee (not large!) so hopefully I'll see it in a few months!
I forwarded my website to her and will contact again when I have some decent pictures.

If you get a bigger picture published, here's a site that shows roughly how much you could expect:

Thanks everyone.
I'm still plugging away with a lot of my best shots ending up in the music photography thread on the music forum.
I email the NME every so often, most recently Monday but they never get back to me even though they've told me on the phone to mail them any decent shots.
A lot of my work is better than several of the shots that accompany their live listings and the reviews of "up and coming" bands in their "Radar" section but they don't care!

Don't know about the rules in the UK, but here in Denmark we've got fines when papers forgets to credit journalists and photojournalist. Worth looking into perhaps.

As a journalist I would've been ****** if they published something of mine without crediting me! :|

lorne: often they're more interested in how quick/often someone can supply, than the actual quality of the photos. if they've got a photographer who regularly & consistently supplies good photos, they're unlikely to want to annoy them by turning down 5 of their shots in favour of some from an 'unknown'.

NME wise it's not always the case as one of the sections that I particularly mentioned - The Radar reviews tends to run reviews three to four weeks after the gig so speed isn't an issue.
As I said,I'm not up to the standard yet of the main shots that appear but a lot of my shots are equally as good as the pictures that appear in the Radar reviews and live listings.
