I apologise if the question has already been asked but as the search engine has gone it’s difficult to check previous threads.

So. – Does anyone know which is better?
Play247 are offering the region 1 version of The Matrix – Revisited for £14.99 while the region 2 release is £17.99.

Is the R2 copy the superior thus justifying the extra £3 or should I save a few quid and go for the R1 version?

Regards
Fletch.

:D

OK, OK.

Forget I mentioned it.
The £17.99 release is the 2 twin pack including the film (Good VFM anyway).

The R2 (albeit £9.99) is only Dolby 2.0 so I will be getting the 5.1 R1 release.

Toodle Ooo.

R2 is definately 5.1 not 2.0

By all accounts the single disc editions are identical in both regions. If you've already got the movie, get the R2 Revisited disc. The documentary even shows a headbut that gets cut from the movie - go figure?!

Hi,
I thought that Matrix Region 1 is better than region 2. Is this true?
Not sure which region is best to buy the complete package of Matrix revisited. Can any one give their opinion.

cheers

If your after the complete package (movie + Revisited disc) get the R1 - the movie is complete plus you get a commentary track (albeit a rather dull one).

If your just after the Doco you might as well get R2 - its identical and cheaper.

So the actual Matrix Revisited disk on its own is just a documentary? Doesn't include the actual film? I thought it would be the movie.. plus NEW extras and features which the original Matrix DVD didn't include.

So If I want the Revisited scenes AND the movie.. I have to buy the twin box set? which would be 1 DVD of the whole film and old extras and 1 DVD of the revisted extras and a documentary?

Thanks, sorry if this is supposed to be common knowledge.

Youve got it spot on.

But it's not "just a documentary"!
It's THE documentary !

I've got the region 1 version of revisited to go with the region 1 version of the film I've had since it's release.
From the revisited disk you will get a lot of background on the concept for the whole trilogy as well as some sneak previews of the training for the Matrix two and three.

If you are a fan it's definitely worth purchasing.

and whats this jukebox thing i heard about

Have a look at:-
http://www.dvdcompare.org.uk/comparisons/film_results_page.php?fid=1526
There's an easter egg that holds an entire soundtrack.
And that's just one of several easter eggs.

From the disc’s Main Menu, select "Languages" and then the "left" arrow key on your remote control. This will highlight a phone booth, which gives you access to "Jukebox", a special feature that gives you access to 41 songs from the documentary!

In the "Jukebox" feature, go to the second page, which gives you access to the songs number 11 through to 20. Here, press the "right" arrow key on your remote control to display a bullet missing Keanu Reeves. If you hit "enter" now, you will be treated to the promised theatrical trailer of "The Matrix"!

thanks, i understand it all now =)

checked the region comparisons website.. and it looks like there is no difference whatsoever between R1 and R2.

The box set seems the best value (i haven't got the matrix DVD yet) which is R2, or if it never comes into stock then just the R2 revisted DVD.

The R4 version of the FILM is actually the best one...

The Matric Comparison at Rewind (http://www.dvdcompare.org.uk/comparisons/film_results_page.php?fid=403)

Uncut, PAL picture, in an Amaray case (not a snapper), and CHEAP!

Wish I never had a credit card :) Get some frightening VISA bills through the post sometimes.

Is the 15 seconds cut from The Matrix R2 of any significance or interest? I've just cancelled my R2 boxset from Play247 as a result of Mark Bennett's post, and just gone for the Revisited DVD. Might buy The Matrix another day, did see it in the cinema 3 times afterall.

The 15 seconds (is it that much?!) is, if I recall correctly, due to headbutting (again  ).
The problem is that for some reason this meant that the commentary track would not match (they couldn't cut this too? )

Having said this the commentary is pretty boring

The R4 does also have the nice Amaray case, and is sooooo cheap!

I can relate to that!

I Cannot believe that there are still owners of DVD players out there that don't yet own a copy of the Matrix...
Cumon guys

I am inclined to agree with Mark. If I had to buy it again I would probably get the R4 copy now its out. There is nothing wrong with my R1 release but those snapper cases really are very naff.

Is there a 2-disk r4 version, surely this would be the definitive version ?
