Can anybody kindly recommend places i can try and get a good deal on the Canon 70-300mmf4.5/5.6 DO IS USM?

Best i've seen in the UK so far is about £800.

Would prefer UK rather than an import but if the price was right i'd certainly consider it from overseas and need it quite quickly too.

Is it hard to get hold of at the moment?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

SteelyDan, he said he wanted UK and not Import so the Sponsor doesnt fit the bill.

i sold mine (for £650 on ebay), as i didn't really get on with it. they pop up there now and again.

replaced it with L primes (135 and 200) and TCs for not much more money

it's good at what it does (ie being small and unobtrusive) however image quality isn't great.

i'd strongly recommend trying it first

look on an auction site for the £70.00 cashback voucher for this lens, should save you a bit

I've got the canon voucher book and if it has the voucher for the lens you want then i'm happy to send you it - if you want it.

Isn't the non DO version meant to be better in image quality and much cheaper?

You can request a copy of the voucher book from Canon for free.

You do not need to have recently purchased a new camera.

£70 off the EF70-300

Dunno if you've got one yet, or are still interested, but there's one going (secondhand) for £600 here (http://www.worldphotographyforum.com/showthread.php?t=1090). The 550EX's he's selling as well are rather cheap, but looks like they've both gone :(
