The Cinema Store in St Martins Lane did have the (R4 I presume) Monkey DVDs in their sale (a month or so back) in the DVD basement for about a tenner a piece.... Pricey on their R1s etc but the sale items were reasonable enough. Stuck on their own ratings too. Special dispensation, I guess....

Was there a box set? Don't know, though "Water Margin" certainly got a VHS box-set in UK (I still cuddle mine occasionaly)!

In case anyone is interested, the Monkey DVDs are coded to be R4 only - they are not compatible with R2 players. But they are cheap though, the ones I have worked out about £7 a few months ago from EzyDVD. As far as I know there is no boxset and the episodes that were never shown in the west (and are thus not dubbed) have not been released anywhere.

BUT, the R2s are on the way soon, last thing I heard. There will be thirteen volumes once again, as with the R4 editions. Each R2 will contain three of the 39 dubbed episodes PLUS one of the thirteen undubbed not-seen-outside-Japan episodes as a bonus! The previously-mooted interviews with the actors involved seem to have been shelved. The R2s will, of course, be more expensive than the bargain-release R4s....
anyone got the link to that Monkey fansite where this information is constantly being updated? I seem to have lost it...

I used to love watching this on BBC2 when i was a kid,
but I saw it on Bravo the other year, & just couldn't understand why I liked it so much, it was awful, & made absolutely no sense.

I don't know, maybe I'm getting too old. :(

WHY do I not wait!

Bought all the R4s and now the R2s feature the unseen 13 eps!!!

Although having bought the R4s at the cheap roughly £7 price, the new ones are a heart stopping £19.99!!!!!!
