I have a £20 voucher to use in Currys and I was thinking of getting the Oritron DV600( I think) about £89. I have a Sammy 709 myself but thought the oritron would be ok for the girlfriends house. I would go for the tesco DVD but I want to use the £20 voucher. Is the Oritron any good then, multiregion RCE and so on?
Thanks
D.

If it is the Oritron 600 then:

Multiregion - YES (Menu, 1 6, 7 then MUTE for all region)

RCE - Yes, plays without any problem in autoregion mode

Also has RGB Scart support.

It's worth updating it to the latest firmware version (upgrade disc available from currys mastercare) as it fixes many of the compatability issues. Check current firmware by pressing MENU twice.

Do a web search for oritron reviews before you buy..

I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions after reading some of the reviews.
One of the common complaints on the 600 is that the disc tray often comes out - leaving the DVD still in the machine.

Be aware that most reviews are for the rubbish US version (it has a really old firmware version which can't be upgraded and only composite video out)
