how many minutes do you want? Any particular phone you're after? Any specific network? How much do you want to pay max for the phone, and for the monthly line rental. Any further info would help :p

all the sites are fairly simple.

And most have similar plans.

Just go to O2 Online (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-582776-10309950) , Orange (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://clkuk.tradedoubler.com/click?p=23943&a=60823&g=12568622) etc, and have a look at their plans. Choose the one that suits you, in terms of texts, minutes and price.

As stated above, you need to decide how much you currently spend, and have an idea on how you spend it - for example are you spending £10 a month on calls and £20 on texts? Do you want to be able to make video calls? When do you make most of your calls? Are your calls to other networks, one particular network or even just landlines?

All this governs what will be best for you. Currently I like the look of the flext tariff offered by T-Mobile (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://valuemobiles.at/thedvdforums). It works like prepay - each month you get given an amount of credit, and as you make calls and texts its eaten away. It means one month you might send more texts, and the next you might make more calls.

Also watch out for the length of contracts - many are now 18 months.

The likes of Carphone Warehouse (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/pan/TrackerServlet?p=443&a=60823&g=162274), E2Save.com (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/click?p=14992&a=60823&g=99367), The Link (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/click?p=1470&a=60823&g=35293) and MobileShop (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://scripts.affiliatefuture.com/AFClick.asp?affiliateID=17278&merchantID=666&programmeID=2152&mediaID=0&tracking=) offer cashback deals and freebies. With freebies you get them with the phone, whilst cashback deals you must remember to claim at certain times throughout the year - forget and your forfeit that claim of cash!

Also note that generally the networks offer contract deals that are better value (i.e. more talk and text for your money) but generally don't offer the extras like other stores.

Cheapest network (or most free minutes + texts) for contracts I would say is Three.

O2 would be second in my opinion and if you text rather than talk their PAYG online sim might be your best bet.

I was just about to make a pretty similar post to the OP.

One extra question though.. I too am on PAYG and might well move to contract once the credit on my Orange payg runs down (still £25 atm).
(Hopefully the N80 will be available by then...) Anyway, is it possible to move your number from a PAYG to a contract phone? I'd hate to have to change the number just as I'm starting to need the phone more!

i've noticed these companies switching to 18 month plans (well, Orange anyway) ... my question is, do you still get a handset upgrade after 12 months, or does it switch to 18 months?

Fatbloke: yes you can port your number, just request a PAC code from Orange when you leave and give it to your new network when you sign up.

MaxNutter: I'm pretty sure it'd be 18 months as when you within your contract they don't need to offer you anything, it's only when you have the option of leaving them! ;)

Yes, an 18 month contract means you cannot upgrade for that long, although most networks allow you to upgrade a month or 2 early.

I've just received a W810i on a new 12 month contract direct from O2 online. Not only can I use my daughters O2 PAYG sim but also my current Orange sim. They have sent an unlocked phone!

I'm looking for a new contract -preferably cashback because the last one was pretty good -£30 a month but you can claim all the money back.
I have seen 2 deals on Carphonewarehouse and The Link and just wondering which one would be better:
1st one: Carphonewarehouse:

reconditioned Samsung SGH D500
99p a month for 9 months
250 mins and 100 txt with the first three months double mins and texts
monthly payment £35

motorola v3 pink
£9.99 a month for 12 mths
double mins and texts for 3 months
200 mns and 100 txts normally
in total £240 cash back

I dunno, has anyone ever had a reconditioned phone? what is it like?
