Just setup my new floorstanding speakers to my home cinema setup.

Is it worth buying spikes for them?

I asked the same question about a month ago and got loads of replies and everyone said YES.

As a point of interest what kind of speakers do you have as i thought they all came supplied with spikes.

So i didn't install them to either (and if you look at the 'post a picture of your set-up' thread you'll notice that that mjorty of people don't use spikes either).

I used spikes on my floorstanders when I had carpet, but removed them after having laminated flooring put in (just used blue-tak). I put the spikes back in recently and although I'm happy with 'em, people keep moving the speakers (to get stuff next to it) and I have to re-adjust the spikes everytime

Even if you have carpets - a good idea is to place a small coin under each spike and protect the floor.

Spikes are intended to isolate the speaker from the floor and reduce bass boom. If used correctly they can help produce a tighter and more controlled bass. I'd certainly always use them if supplied.

Spikes are supposed to improve the sound of the speakers, especially and mainly if you have wooden floors.

I'm using the ones which came with my speaker stands (which I don't use anymore). If your near central London, try Tottenham Court Road, if not, any decent hifi store should have 'em.

I dunno if you can use them unless you wanna drill your own holes/thread (not a good idea), are they on carpet? you can always put a paving slap under it.
