View Full Version : Current Bluetooth headset choice?
So I needto get a new BT headset. I'm looking at either the Jabra 250v or the BT800 for a tenner more. Anyone get any suggestions? I used to have a Bluetrek G2 but it wa so light and didn't clip behind my ears properly that I lost it. I wear glasses (Oakley's so the arms are straight!) so need one which will not interfere with them.

Don't know much about these headsets myself... still use and 8210
But a couple of the lorry drivers, who deliver to where I work both use Jabra headsets, based on reviews they read. One iirc uses the 250v and he said the quality of use and sound is way better than any of the other makes he's tried, plus he wears glasses.
hope that's of some use.
Thanks, its the glasses thing that is a big thing as the Bluetrek was a bit of a pain with glasses.

Don't Oakley do a reciever with their glasses specifically in mind? Or is it an entire package

I think its a full set of glasses only? I didn't see anything int he Oakley store in Boston the other week.

Also my sunglasses are not Oakley as they will not do my prescription in them. I will have to buy Oakley RX and have normal tinted lenses fitted instead of the iridium coated ones :( I have DKNY sunglasses at the moment which are more normal style with metal frames.

Yeah - Razorwire (now there's a product name to encourage you to wrap it around your ear  )

So anyone got comments on the BT800? Is the caller-id worth it? Surely if wearing it you cannot see it?
Have you considered one of the clip-type ones if you're a glasses wearer? Like a 'normal' hands-free kit, but the wire ends where it clips onto your clothes. Great when you're driving in the summer and swapping between glasses and sunglasses.
i-tech used to make a good basic one, but I think it got discontinued in favour of an expensive fancy one.

Are any of the aftermarket in-car ones worth bothering with?

I think that the Nokia in-car ones are good, but I drive lots of rental cars (mainly abroad) so need a personal one instead.

Daft Q, but are they suitable for non-nokia phones?
Yes, they are just Bluetooth. The only difference is if you fit the cradle option and that is only suitable for Nokia's (it just charges the phone and hold it so that the display can be seen).

Hi
I've got the Plantronics Discovery 640 (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://playcom.at/thedvdforums?DURL=http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/-/533/690/-/852575/Plantronics_Discovery_640_Bluetooth_Wireless_Headset/Product.html?searchtype=genre) from Play.com - £49.99
Very small & light, good accessories provided - worth a look !
I have a plantronics pulsar and it looks well stupid! cant play games with it as the lag is insane which is a bit of a let down, but its good for the ipod and phone :D

Had one of these and they are more form than function, callers couldnt hear a word I was saying unless I was shouting.....
I only need this one for mobile usage when travelling and maybe very occasional PC usage for VOIP (although unlikely). I would like a new headset (cordless) for my DECT phone (or just a normal phone) though for home use :)

I have the 250v and my phone announces the caller between rings so caller ID is very handy not sure how the bt800 implements it though, I would think it a little useless if its a display. The 250v works fine but I do think the quality of sound has a lot to improve on over the wired headsets never used other BT units to compare. No problem for telephone calls or listening to sat nav prompts but no good for music. I don't wear glasses so can't comment on that. Battery life is great the only downside being I can forget to charge it as it lasts for so long.

I have one too and agree with everything wseed says. Occassionally wear glasses or use it while wearing sunglasses and have no problems. I find though that the plug can get uncomfortable after a while but maybe that's my sensitive ears.
