SCREAM :region comparisons please

Could you please compare the R2 french "scream:collector's edition(released sept 2001), with the R1 Scream - Collector's Series edition. & if possible the R2 japan 'uncut' version.

Scream Japanese R2:

2.35:1 Anamorphic Transfers on both the Directors Cut and the Theatrical Cut

English Dolby Digital 5.1 (subs are optional)

Scream CE US R1:

Just avoid this one at all costs

Non-Anamorphic 2.35:1 Letterboxed

Extras: Nothing special Wes Craven commentary a featurette blah nothing else worth mentioning that would even make you want to buy this one.

If your a collector like myself you might want to have both the French R2 and the Japanese R2 discs for the excellent DTS track and the Directors Cut. But either one you pick will surely please.

Thanks for the info, Now just so I know, the new french R2 version is not the uncut version is it?

No, only the Japanese version has the extra scenes in it. They don't detract from the quality of the movie anyway.....things like a little more gore when involving Drew at the beginning etc...

The French version is out now it was released on 9/16. I ordered my copy from Amazon.fr they were very quick with shipping my disc to the US. I highly recommend them. Here is a link to the disc...

Is the menu in french only or is there also an english menu ?

The animated menu system is in French only but it is extremely easy to navigate through. Here is a link that shows some screen grabs of the menu system...

From what I understand from the French review, the making-of featurette included is the same as the one included on disc 4 of the R1 Ultimate Scream Collection box set.

The two versions I own are the R1 (came as part of the box set) and the Japanese Director's Cut (paid £50 for it!), so I very much doubt I'll buy the French one. A DTS track is, however, and interesting prospect.

Yeah I've got the Scream Trilogy boxset (r1) and The directors cut of Scream on LaserDisc and there wasn't enough uncut footage to persuade me to get the directors cut again on DVD ... But I have ordered the the R2 French version an Anamorphic Print and DTS very just too tempting to resist
