Does anyone know which version is best. Both the R1 from Fox Lorber and the R2 French have the commentary track, while the R2 UK seems not to. But while I presume the R1 has subs for it, does the R2 French?

I don't think you are going to find much difference in the picture quality of the releases as the majority of the film was made using 16mm. The R2 release is pretty good but it doesn't have a commentary track. It has an 8 minute interview with Charlotte Rampling and Bruno Cremer which is very interesting and extended text interviews with Charlotte Rampling and François Ozon, which I found told you more than enough about the film - in fact, they actually explained a few things that would have been better left unexplained.

I have a full review of the UK Artificial Eye disk on DVDTimes here (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/index.cgi?page=Review&id=275&story=2175).

I would doubt that the French R2 would have subtitles for the commentary. Not sure about Ozon's command of English, but if the commentary on the Fox Lorber release isn't English, it will certainly be subtitled.

I would be interested to know how the Fox Lorber measures up if you go for that one, as the quality of their releases seems to have improved recently.
