View Full Version : Blueyonder suck - Broadband ISP recommendations please...
I've been losing 25% of packets since Saturday around midday. After initially being told it would take 9 hours to fix the fault I've now finally found out (after several phone cals) that I could be without proper broadband access for weeks (noise on the line apparently...).
I can't be without broadband access for that length of time and I can't honestly believe it could take that long for blueyonder to fix the problem :(
What are the best alternative broadband providers around and would I have to have a BT line to switch to ADSL? At the moment phone line, broadband and tv is all from Telewest...

Yes, you need a BT line to switch to ADSL. So your alternatives are a) dial up or b) a BT phone line (which will no doubt take some time to be installed) to get to ADSL.
jeeez - hobsons choice!
righteo then I better get having a look around for the best deal then :(

I've been with BY for a while now and have had both very helpful and speedy service and on occasion some very confusing and unhepful conversations. But on the whole I am happy with their service.
In relation to your problem I had an issue whereby my connection fell down and Tech support tried to resolve it over the phone but got nowhere so they booked an engineer. He came around and had a check of the system and it turned out that it was an open socket which could and had to be resolved by tech support over the phone. Maybe it's worth giving them a call and talking to someone else and telling them that your thinking of changing providers as you don't feel that length of time is warrented.
