Hi guys hope you can help me I'm having loads of problems transferring my video files onto DVD.

I've always used Sonic MyDVD(version 6.0) to make my DVD's but for the last couple of months I've been having problems, they are : -

1. Once it has written the files, it gets stuck in 'cancelling'

2. Will not write the lead out (won't go back to the main menu once the last programme has fionish, or won't even start the last programme)

3. Ruins discs (new Sony & Verbatim DVD-RW's) - gets so far through the writing then ejects the discs, with a warning sign appearing on screen with no explanation. then the discs can't be used again.

I tried getting help from Sonic, but they were about as much help as a parachute on a submarine, so a friends gave me Nero, which looks brilliant and seems to do everything I want it too do, but whenever I whenever I record something with Nero VisionExpress 2(which looks to be the easiest programme fo me to use) the audio is out of sync by a second or so, and this gradually increases throughout the programme.

So, if anyone can help me, or spread any light on where I am going wrong, please do.

As you may be able to tell, i'm not great with computers so I'm counting on you all top come to my rescue.

Thanks.

Sonic has quite a lot of conflicts IME including anti-virus apps. Maybe try their help site and make sure you have have the latest updates.

There could be other problems with your PC but the best thing to do the now is uninstall MyDVD and Nero then restart and then install Nero again. Nero is a great app.

Make sure you burn at a slow speed too (8x is more than enough and maybe too much for your setup).

Perhaps defraging th h/d may help.

I've defragged the Hard Drive twice, I've uninstalled both MyDVD and Nero, but both still have their orginal problems(more so in the case of MyDVD)
When I burn DVD's on Nero I was told not to burn fast than x4.

Maybe a process of elimination from looking around it appears that the Nero codecs may be the problem

Try these two apps they are limited in the trial mode but you should be able to check the lip sync

VSO (http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/)

Winavi (http://www.winavi.com/en/video-converter/video-converter.htm)

Both write compliant files to the h/d for later burning to dvd.

I have not used this but it is supposed to sort out some compatability problems with re installing Nero

Nero removal tool (http://www.softpedia.com/progSearch/Nero%20Clean%20Tool%20Bundle)

Cheers compa.

i'm going to un-installed both Nero and MyDVD, and then defrag my H/D again, then put nero back on and see if it works, then start trying those apps if not.

i'll keep you posted.

Ok, guys.

Finished Uni for the year, so I had a chance to try and sort this out.

uninstalled everything and defraged the computer, and then i thought that i might as well re-install(re-boot/recover?) the whole computer and start from scratch.

So I was starting from new(I've given up on Nero as a bad idea, the thing doesn't seem to want to work for me.), I reinstalled Sonic MyDVD and i still have the same problems

1. Once it has written the files, it gets stuck in 'cancelling'(this is the main problem now)

I've tried Sonics website for help, but its not much use.

So, Please, Somebody help me and I'll be your friend forever

What you are doing with TMPGEnc is taking your avi and creating a dvd compliant file which you then author using a different program to create your burnable video_ts folder. You will be using 3 different programs, one to encode, one to author and one to burn. This will take longer than just using a single program and should solve all your problems provided it isnot the original source files or possibly a codec issue.
A good site to have a read on these issues is videohelp.com

Cool, i'l have a look.

But does anyone know why I can'y use MyDVD? it was really simple for me to use, and it worked without a problem up until about three months ago.
