Can anyone tell me, in laymans terms, how to connect a vcr up to a dvd recorder and then to the tv, so to record from vhs to dvd? Is there any protection thang I have to get past?
I've been playing about with scarts etc... and tried to connect it all up but I'm having zero luck
If its home made videos and movies, theres no protection thing, if its proper films and stuff thats :nono: and if the machines doing its job right it will detect macrovision (if its there) and wont let you record it.

It really shouldnt be any harder than taking the scart out from the VHS player to the scart in on the back on the DVD recorder and hitting record...
If you dont have a scart in, then you may have the 3 seperates phono adapters on the front of the DVD recorder as inputs which you can use instead.
Then just take the scart (or whatever) out of the DVD recorder to the TV as normal as if you were watching a DVD...
My guess is that your DVD recorder has more than one set of inputs and you need to select which one your player uses...(that is certainly the case on some players i have seen..they have a little button "input select")
