Will try not to post toooo many pics, can look at a lot more in the gallery @ http://gallery.tickettelectronics.com - I was really pleased with over 250 shots (2 full 1gb compact flash cards) from my Canon EOS 300D mostly shot with Canon 28-135mm IS and Canon 75-300mm IS.

Started in St James' Park... fave snaps:

Then made my way down to Southbank- not any great snaps... few in the gallery... then down to Pall Mall...

Now i'm not a car person so don't expect me to pic the best, but here are some kinda cool motors...

So.. what do you think? I'm really happy- I have no idea how I managed so many results with the masses of people (tall gits and bloody police/wardens who insisted on standing in front of us!)

Good work mate! You were on the first corner by the looks of it, I saw a couple of people nearly lose the back ends round there when giving it some welly!

Im having a look at your gallery now! Looks great

nice ones matey, looks liked you manged to get above the tall gits a bit :)

I had a bloody nightmare in the press area when i finally got into it, just after we did, the joe public decided to pull the barrier's apart and all bunded in there, so had no chance of any room, but managed to get a few, and then we ran off down to parliment square to catch them there, tried to give your mobile a call, but hit voicemail.

Nice to meet you although very briefly, sorry about that, but we were running short of time. Will have to sort out another london get together now it is starting to warm up and brighten up :)

/me strolls off to sort through just over 1,000 shots :(

1000- bloody hell- you either have lots of big compact flash cards OR a photo hard drive thingy? (or don't shoot in raw, but i very much doubt that...)

No worries, you were lucky/clever getting a pass :D

Yeah, looked a bit tricky but I'm sure you got some excellent shots- look forward to seeing!

Getting above the tall gits was tricky, my legs ache from "tippy-toeing" lol. Quite a few of the shots I held the camera up above my head n hoped (even if I was a giant everyone else held their cameras up above them so I was kinda forced to...) I was just lucky my compact flash cards filled up about the same time as the last car headed off :p

Fantastic!

I love the paintjob on the ... erm ... the horsey one ... ferrari ... is it   (the bats!)

yeah i got an archos av420, and 2 x 1gb compact flash, so have to keep swaping and copying and deleting, its a bit of a pain in the ass when you are trying to take pics at something like that, really need to pick up 2 x 2gb cards as well so i got a bit more space to work with, but seeing as i got to pay of the 580EX first, i'll worry about that later on :)

what about a 4gb microdrive, I picked up a IBM one a while ago on fleabay... think it was about £80! works great in my Pro 815...

personally i dont really trust them, i would prefer to go with solid state memory, plus have a friend that does delivery for lexar so can get a staff discount on them.

me strolls off to sort through just over 1,000 shots :(

Hurry up!

Some of the cars are spectacular... but I can't help feeling that many of them this year would appear to be pretty damn ordinary from the photos up already. Big bland Mercs, people carriers, and Porsches... I mean, woop de bloody do! And there's a Range Rover Sport with a roofbox - that can't be allowed!

Nice photos though!

I've got a bunch of pics from last night's Pistonheads Tunnel Run in London if anyoen fancies seeing them? Not Gumball but fit into the theme.

downhillbiker
01-05-2006, 00:45
It's a 612 Scaglietti with a rather magnificent paintjob... no idea what the orange one is.

I've just realised that Gruffy and Mr & Mrs Triple S from Pistonheads started the Gumball in their Radical and Sagaris (respectively), so I'll post last night's London shenanigans anyway :D

I can't quite understand why you would do that to an S2000... Whatever they claim to be, they're just chavscum at heart.

Nice photo's one and all! However I may have a bone to pick with the OP. Is that the Cheeky Girls dressed as nurses in the 2nd to last pic? If so I'm very cross with the OP - he messes about taking their photo when he could have given them a good kicking! ;)

Haha, I didn't realise but now you mention it, they do look like the cheeky girls!

I don't watch TV but got the feeling these few may've been famous too...

Great pics, even so :)

3rd photie/guy on the right, looks like Tony Hawks to me?

Second one down is Ryan Dunn, or Jackass fame, and the third one down is indeed skateboarder Tony Hawk (not Hawks, he writes books!).

I know :( I didn't mean to include that car here - I took a few for ****taking on the S2K site. It was worse in the flesh :gag: I'm usually the first to say "whatever floats your boat, it's your car etc" but I thought that looked bloody awful.

GreyJackal - You didnt take any shots of a z4 Alpina or a smart brabus roadster did you?

It was me and my mates but didnt get any good shots of us.

GreyJackal
01-05-2006, 12:28
Not the black Alpina? That nearly killed himself on the junction after Clacketts? :D If so that was me who came over to you to talk to you about it at Thurrock :D

Or the silver one that I was chatting to at Tower Bridge? "A Tunnel Run without any tunnels" :D

That's Gruffy from Pistonheads. Drives the Ultima and started the Gumball with it :D After a night driving through London's tunnels

yeah i got quite a few shots of the car GJ, just going through my pics and there was quite a few up at the tunnel run that took part in the gumball.

dont know if you missed my Q earlier, but did you use a tripod and flash for your night piccies ?

GreyJackal
01-05-2006, 13:11
No tripod but varied depending on which shot. Some were with onboard flash, some with my Sigma gun and some with no flash but 1600 ISO, depending on the time (I had some issues with the flashgun that turned out to be battery related

Twas the black Alpina, and yes he did nearly die!!!! Flipping Chevrons! I was in my mates Smart roadster so couldnt go fast enough to make any errors!! ;)

02-05-2006, 09:17
I was right behind him. I honestly thought he was going to hit the beginning of the armco  I was standing on the anchors as he came across.

Funnily enough he slowed down to about 60 for the bit to Thurrock ;)

I thoroughly agree.
