Anyone got a SE w550i... ? (questions about transfering music)

Thinking about getting a Sony Ericsson w550i to replace my z520i, but just wondering if anyone has one one and could let me know if there are any issues regarding transfering music onto them... ?

I know my wife has the w800i and used to have one myself but they have Memory Cards so just use a card reader for that.

With the w550i though it is just straight onto the Phone Memory, so is it pretty straight forward or is it like the problems you get if you do not use a Card Reader with the w800i... ?

Hi!

I've got that phone, and I really like it - plus you don't see that many of them around, I had heard that some companies (such as Orange, o2) didn't support the phone anymore due to problems, but mine has been fine!

The only problem I did have, was in transferring mp3 files over to it - the software it came with just didn't work at all for me. In the end, I had to get a 3rd party application that was installed on my PC, that was used in conjunction with Itunes.

Basically, you create a playlist in Itunes, run this little app, and whatever is stored in the playlist, is put onto your phone - MassStoreToSync it's called I think.

So, decent little phone, and one I'd recommend anyways

I had one of these, was very nice to use. and very good to play games on if your into that kind of thing.

I recommend it also.

I upgraded to the W800i - but this is so buggy.

Got one today and got the Software you mention but when i connect the Phone to the PC with the USB Cable and then run the Software, i get an error saying 'No Sony Device Found', even though i can go and browse the Phone as it is definately there.

Have got iTunes ruinning and the 'My Sony Device' Folder is there.

Do i need to install the disctophone Software at all... ?

My daughter has one, i think its pretty good.I just drag and drop the tunes onto the phone.

Hi mate,

Tried drag and drop last night, but for some reason i could only play the songs if i went to the File Manager part and then into Sounds... could not play them through the Walkman.

I think i put them into one of the folders,not the ringtone one.The dont appear straight away.I went into file manager then back into the walkman and hey presto!

What's the best software to use for converting a CD to MP3 Format for the Drag and Drop method... ?

Used to have CDex, but it crashes every time i exit so looking for something other than that.

Tried iTunes but when i copy the files over, the Walkman recognises the Tracks but not the Album or Artist Folder and i end up having to create a Playlist then putting the Tracks into that.

Dragging up an old thread, here, but with games having been mentioned in it already ... :-) I'm not up on my mobile-gaming; will ANY mobil Java game play on this or do they need to be specifically for the device?

I think any will do - I had to get rid of mine after it got put through the wash :(

Got a nice SE k510 now on PAYG though :)

Just thought - if you get the games via the phone itself, then it'll only show you games that are compatible with your phone
