Don't know how noisy they are but check this out:

Bit more expensive, but silent.

thats a pci-e card
I'd be interested in finding out too. I want to stick with AGP and go for a 7800gs but it's a bedroom media centre PC as well so noise is a major issue as well as gaming frame rates.
I've the 7800gs and I don't notice the fan at all.
But having said that, my PSU is like a 747 taking off, so that may be an unfair comment.
Tis a good card though.
Dno.

anyone without a psu that sounds like a 747!
I really cant understand why people put up with fan noise like that.....there are ways to cool quietly that dont cost a bomb.
I've got a tagan quiet psu and a zalman 9500 for the cpu.
has been very quiet indeed with a 6600gt silent.
Want the extra 3d speed but don't want a 747

It's on my 'to-do' list believe me.. It's just it keeps getting put off until I do the next full upgrade.
Gainward do a silent 7800GS if that helps?
they do two, £250 and £350 respectively and both still have fans. Think I'll hang around for some heatpipe 7800gs solutions to appear, I think the manufacturers have realised that people aren't ditching AGP just yet.

considering the bfg was ever so slightly behind the eVGA card on tom's hardware, the gainward must be faster than both, although the golden sample card is silly money at £350, with that sort of money I'd make the leap to PCI-e instead.
Make sure you do your research before buying the gainward, I'm sure I saw a post somewhere stating it presented more 'problems' (whatever that means) than other 7800gs.
PS. Don't look at the new VGA charts on Tom's hardware, it's depressing how far down the list the 7800gs agp is on the current list despite costing £250.
