We havent had a which mobile thread for a few hours now, so why break the trend. ;)

Upgrade time soon for me. Trying to decide whether to go for one which I can add Tom Tom for GPS?

Ideally I dont want the mobile to be a brick and i want the screen to be a reasonable enough size so to see directions on clearly.

Does anyone else use GPS on their phones and do you find it usable?

A friend of mine uses it on his Symbian 60-based nokia 7610 and thinks it's great - he's got crap eyesight too.

A number of phones (mainly Nokia's) use S60 so you wouldn't be tied to one model - I'm waiting for the Nokia n80 (which also uses S60) which boasts a huge range of features. If you didn't want to wait for that (or are afraid of the price - it ain't going to be cheap) you could a lot worse than the N70 which is fairly easily available with a modest contract.

Just posted this on the other thread about sat nav but might as well mention it here as well.

I went for a nokia 6260 as I think it's the best looking tomtom compatible phone. Great decent sized screen and runs tomtom 5 perfectly. My Dad's got terrible eyesight and he has no problems seeing the screen when it's in a phone holder or just sat on the dashboard. Out of production phone though.

The only new phone I'd consider (which is actually nicer than the 6260) is the nokia n90. There were some issues with the n90 and tomtom but they may have been resolved now (I'm almost positive they have but don't know for sure).

I'm voting for the n80 too - should be out by the end of the month (just like they said last month... ) but it'll be well worth the wait and the price tag - wifi, 3mp cam, best nokia screen ever etc etc.

Haven't seen it in action yet but this month's Stuff magazine pairs the n80 and Tom Tom 5 in an "Ideal mobile combo" feature so I'm assuming it'll be as good as I'd hoped.

I use the imate Jam with tomtom, seems to work well and has all manner of other useful features that symbians don't.

I work for Nokia so only really know about Nokia Handsets. But the N80 is a great looking phone, with tons of features as stated above. If I was to go for a handset with Sat-Nav capabilities this would be the one for me....expect it in the next few weeks ;)

Ooh any chance of a staff discount on the N80 for your old pals on the DVD Forums? ;)
