View Full Version : Telegraph Fantasy County Cricket
Well the Daily Telegraph have updated their website today and launched this seasons forthcoming competition.
You can register here http://tcrk.gfm.co.uk/cgi-bin/TELP_CRIC2006_copy.cgi?popup=2&p_game_code=CRIC2006&p_referer and if you look at the county profiles can see the values of the players. I'm guessing the proper player list will appear shortly.
Morleyian has usually run a super league for the DVDF but I don't mind creating it if required?
So show your interest here and we will get it up and running.
You have up to 11am on Wednesday the 3rd May to pick and change you team as much as you want and then from there it is 24 transfers to be used throughout the season.
The entry is £5 per team
EDIT: League now created and is called The DVD Forums Super League and is League Pin 8000335
I'm in :) think i missed it last year.
You know that the new cricket season must be around the corner when this thread appears ;)

Well if you all are I better stick my ugly mug in this thread before things get out of hand ;) (and before Mark takes over the management role :p ) In 1 month, the FF domestic game will be over and my duties will be relinquished until late summer. So for that reason, I must take charge of this to keep me occupied. Now we have 4 weeks to go until the start, let's see if we can get double figures for once (just 5 entries last year was a dismal effort [8 in 2004 and 27 **!!!** in 2003], you should all be ashamed of yourselves! :D)

Good job I sought permission from morleyian before I created the DVDF league. I was so close to but though there was no rush I suppose. :razz:

Ah but I require the assistance of my fellow managers to ensure the whole thing runs smoothly :razz: (and hell, if someone buys the Telegraph/has access to it on a weekly basis...then there's no point in myself going to great lengths to obtain that magic password ;) )
In that case if someone else does have access to the Telegraph every week, and you don't, would it not be easier for them to run the league? Personally I don't understand the fuss about running the league!

FF game runs fine without me obtaining the PW and so has this for 3 years running. Nothing's changed.
Previous years no one person had the 'responsibility' of getting the password but if someone got the password by whatever means (usually by the page flapping open as you past it in the local newsagent :) ) then they would post it in the thread.
The guys on the BBC TMS messageboard have set up a league so hopefully they will post the password in there or like I say we find it out for ourselves anyway.

Have joined the league for the first time, only me and MarkR so far!
My mate is going to join as he is in the Xpert11 and formula 1 games. He's not a member here but will help swell the number at least and help get to the minimum 5 or 6 members to have your own league.

I am in and have decided to start with a side of just foreigners !! Will be intresting to see how they do in the shadow league. Not sure how long they will stay as foriegners mind !!
Finally picked my team - 4 in the league now :)
I see there is no captain option this year. Not sure why they dropped it - I thought it was a decent option. It certainly helped at the end of the season when you had no transfers left.
Looking forward to this starting, may have to tweak a few positions.
Dissapointed with the rain this last week though, my 1st game of the season was called off, pah!
Just finalised my team in readiness for this starting.
morleyian are you entering this year? Only a couple more days to go as it starts on May 3rd so anyone else wanting to join is of course welcome as we now have enough to be a super league.

EDIT: I appear to have shown a lot of Surrey bias in my team selection with 5/11 representing my home county.
That makes 9 of us then and my mate joined but has not joined our super league :doh: I gave him the details but after signing up didn't select to join the league and he is now currently on holiday in Portugal so I'm not sure if he can join next week when he is back?

I'm glad I have Ramps.. cause no one else is scoring much. I've had a few players pulled out to play in the England A game..

Mr Morley takes an early lead in the 1st league table.
I'm sure I read somewhere it updates daily on the net or something. All I can see is that it doesn't include the games happening now so I'm guessing it may update daily but only for completed games.

Note when you say "poor" you actually climbed the overall table :p I just had a superb week :D (need a lot more of those in the coming month!)
Warning to morleyian - I have Ackerman, Nixon, Hussey and Fleming in my team and they were only supposed to be there for the 20/20 ;)

Thank god I put Lehmann in for the final week!.. Knew he'd put in a performance in his last match for Yorkshire.
I haven't changed my team for a few weeks and have about 10 transfers left.
Looks like Fleming will not bat in this last match also due to injuring his little finger in todays game.
Could be close in the end.

PS. No changes since week 12, perhaps that's why my title hopes vanished :doh:
I used up my last 2 transfers last night before the cut off.. the last few weeks have seen the most of my rejigging, with injuries etc..
Thankfully I saw on the BBC site yesterday that Ramps was being rested for this game, after his phenomenal season.
Suprised this ain't up yet!

Mr Hynd coming runner up - and the tense battle for 3rd was just pipped by myself, after getting the highest score of the week (thank god for those last subs!) finishing just 29 points ahead of Mr Morley.

Thanks for the wishes guys. All went off superbly and even the weather was good for us with storms on the days either side.
Now getting ready to go to Prague tomorrow for a few days.
