I had a thread about a week or two ago asking wether i should go for Moulin Rouge, Rush Hour 2 or AF Bootleg. I went with the majority and got Almost Famous.
Wow is that a cool little package or what?. I'd never seen the film but had read the screenplay and thought it was great. To be honest i don't mind all that 70's music but it's not anything i listen to regularly, until i got this set. That 6 track CD is great and the film too is just fantastic. I was really impressed with the songs and the DTS track really went some way to recreate that vibe of the seventies.

It had my little sister hooked, which is saying something from someone who would rather watch Stuart Little/Cats and Dogs/Shrek over and over again.

I only watched the theatrical cut first but will give the Dir cut a spin in the week. I agree with some of the comments i had from the other thread. It is one of those films you can watch over and over again, it has great replayability and is also a great feel good movie, i think my parents will love it also.

Anyway thanks to all those that recommended it, one of the best films and DVDs i've seen this year. Roll on Vanilla Sky.:D

Big thanks to Craig @ ********* too.

EDIT: Typos:rolleyes:

I read in today's Guardian that Crowe put his "trademark" feelgood style on hold for Vanilla Sky, and that it's a good deal harsher than his other stuff. And that it has more lampoonable scenes than any film in recent history.

Not sure if i'm allowed to do this but there is a great article about Camerons Mum here http://www.dvdfile.com/news/special_report/ten_questions/crowe_alice/1_5.html

Gonna watch Dir cut later, this film rules.:D

I agree!
i only got the film after reading your thread and seeing all the raves about it. Got my discs and immediately played the CD 'til I knew the songs inside out. Watched the director's cut straight after that and thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the best films I've seen this year (IMO)
It was funny hearing the Stillwater songs in the film and thinking of them as well remembered classics, considering i'd never heard them a week before :D

Nice use of the Elton John songs too. Just got back from the HMV and MVC sales and picked up a few of his earlier albums - had 'em on vinyl but never got the CD's - that's MY christmas sorted!

CHEERS TO ALL WHO RECOMMENDED THE FILM!!

Don't you find that can be both a good thing and a bad thing?. You say to yourself 'right let's go easy on the DVDs this month' and then everyone raves about such and such. Damn these forums.:D

Glad you got it and liked it too.
