Hi

Anyone here able to offer any comments or advice about the current Gretsch range?

I am selling off my Rickenbacker 620 so that I can justify buying a Gretsch - I know I need to get and play some but that means going up to London so I need to have some idea of what's good before I go.

I am tempted by the Setzer signature range - in particular the Black Phoenix which seems to be about £1800. Am I paying a premium for Setzers name or have they really done a decent job on them?

cheers
Steve

I said I wanted to buy one, not that I could afford one! I'll be paying for it a long time

I've never understood the appeal of Gretsch semis. Big, heavy lumps of wood with zero sustain

They look nice though :)

Depends what you are going to be playing on it. They are great for 50s rockabilly etc - I'd just like some informed opinions regarding the quality of the various options
