dvd/cd burner issue

I have a NEC DL DVD writer and it keeps hanging at the writing lead in stage, ive just tried my old standard CD writer and its doing the same thing...anyone any ideas?

You could try updating the ASPI layer drivers. This often cures issue with cd/dvd burning.
You can find them on Adaptecs site or search google for aspi download. I think version 4.70 are the newest ones?

Which software are you using?How are the drives connected (master/slave set up)?Also,you could try deleting the ide controller drivers and letting windows re-install them.

That's why I asked about the setup in case they were connected wrongly or the controller driver was corrupted...
