View Full Version : What mobo with this CPU?
Hello peeps, been looking at the Intel 805 Dual core CPU (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=107617) as my Duron 1600 is a bit weedy nowadays but can't find a decent/cheapish motherboard to go with it. Looking to use my AGP card, ATA drives and 266 DDR Ram if possible. A bit of overclocking would also be nice. Any recommendations
Cheers, Shane.
Quick bump for the weekday people :D
I spotted that CPU last week, with a good but cheap overclocking mother board, it could be the best bargain going at the moment IMO.
Not that this post is any help at all, but I'm also interested
Asus P5P800 SE from Ebuyer @ £49.94 inc VAT (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=17599836080&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=101699) seems to be what you are looking for.

Do you own searching to confirm though :)
Cheers for that, looks good, the review on ebuyer asked the question if it was compatible with the 830 chip. The website looks like it is though?

If you search google with Asus P5P800-SE Intel Pentium 4 805 Dual Core
There are lots of people on forums saying it does work :)

Looks like a bit of bargain!! I'm quite tempted as i'm in the need for a quicker PC...
Certainly looks like a billy bargain to me, £90 for a dual core CPU that can be clocked to 3.9Ghz using Air cooling, nice :D

I'm also looking at buying an 805 system, but it looks like from that forum that you need to do a bios update before you can use the CPU, which would be a bit of a problem.
What mobo have you been looking at Dan??

Maybe that's an early model? It's a bit naughty to sell a brand new mobo, which Asus says is compatible without the latest bios pre loaded.
But then again it is Pc component market we are talking about
Maybe I could set up a little side line offering flashed M/B’s :)

Not sure but from what I've read the SE is an updated motherboard built to accept the dual core CPU's so I'm guessing the SE would work out of the box?
edit:Not sure how these motherboards handle chips not supported in their bios. If the basic electronics work they may just work underclocked until you get the correct bios
