How is the Dansai on Mp3:

Can it handle songs encoded above 128 kbps?

Are tracklistings abreviated ?

We are told it performs like players twice it's price but are there any problem discs apparent yet?

Should i go for this or the Sharp 740H at £130?

I already have a ****** tippin Himage which does the above but not very well!

I need a glitch-free dvd player

Thanx

Not sure of its full MP3 capabilities (zilch on MP3 in the manual), but i'll answer what i can.

Firstly - the sound quality seems very good and it does not cut any of the track like some players.

It has handled 128kbps and 160kbps (thats all i have to try)

Tracknames and foldernames are abreviated to 10 characters.
It depends how you record you MP3's but if they are in logical files, such as album name / cd 1 or 2 etc / trackname . You will get a list of the album folders, selcting an album then show a list of the next folder item (so CD1 ,CD2 etc). Selecting one of those bring up the list of tracks in that folder.
There are then options for progammmed playback, random and several repeat option.
All very good and logical :)

I have not heard of any problem discs as yet.

I know nothing about the Sharp player - so cannot comment on it , but the Dansai is a steal at £99.

Cheers Simes

I bit the bullet and bought one yesterday and can confirm it plays mp3's at bitrates of at least 260kbps!!

I dont have anything sampled higher , folder option on mp3 is nicer than the himage i had and the fast forward and rewind while playing mp3 is a bonus.

As for playing discs it is perfect no glitches on any region and the layer change is hardly noticeable unless your lookin for it.

Me thinks its 100 quid well spent :D
