I have just ordered The Evil Dead (Book Of The Dead Limited Edition) from DvdBoxoffice, it's out in March on R1.

But have I done the right thing by ordering this version or is the Evil Dead SE the best to get.

Anyone help.

Thanks
Keith

Well, Extras-wise, you've done the right thing, as the Book of The dead version includes the 2 excellent audio commentaries from Elite's SE, but throws in "Within The Woods" & Bruce C documentary "Fanalysis" (is that title correct?) which are worthy additions for all ED fans.

The only gripe that the hardcore fans seem to be having with the Book of the dead release is that the film is shown in 1.85:1. ED was shot in 4:3, and Elite's SE is in 4:3, whereas the Book of The dead version will be cropped to 1.85:1.
Major bummer you may think, but it seems that 1.85:1 is Sam Raimi's preferred ratio & he always intended to crop the film down to 1.85:1, so I don't think it's a problem at all. Only the purists who've been watching the film at 4:3 for years will be irritated by the cropping.

I'm glad I ordered the book Of The dead, this package of features and a excellent DVD Case makes me want it now.

I can't wait for March 5th.

Thanks.:)

The new cropped version has dodgy picture qualtiy does it not? I seem to remember reading about it in the R2 Anchor bay DVD.

Me sticks with my Elite Special edition! :)

The review I was given in a post above states that the Movie is Anamophic and has the features that the Elite does. You should get the new version it's gonna be better and you will proberbly kick yourself if you don't.

I am for not getting the Akira LE Tin before stocks ran out!

I'm gonna get it!! If I don't like the 1.85:1 ratio i'll keep my Elite, but if I like the 1.85:1 ratio, i'll sell me Elite disc off.

i've got
Anchorbay R2 cropped Evil Dead Uncut (lol)
Mommentum R2 Evil Dead 2
Anchor Bay R1 Army of Darkness Bootleg

that's the whole trilogy, and that's quite enough..
i hate it when there are so many edition of a movie. I'm a "one edition" type of guy. Upgrading can be a pain in the ass, not to mention expensive.

but the "book of the dead case" does look pretty special. i might make my own though with a bit of cardboard and papier mashey to bind all my editions toegther as a box set.. :D
