Wondered if anyone could help, my other half plays guitar and wants somewhere else to practice, have said if I can soundproof the spare room he can use that, problem is, I have no clue how do do this.
Any ideas would be welcome! :notworthy

I'm afraid I don't have a lot of knowledge, but I seem to recall hearing that the local Council's Environmental Health department offered advice. Perhaps worth a phone call.

you build a room within a room and insolate the gap between with rockwool. it's a hell of a lot of work.

Way back in school days a mate covered all his bedroom walls in egg trays (the cardboard ones). Do not know if it worked as I never heard him play in his room but he was good, which implies he practiced a lot. Might be a very cheap alternative.

depends what type of guitar.

if it's electric just get him something like a Line 6 pod and a pair of earphones, if it's acoustic, simple things like large rugs/carpet on the wall will help dampen the sound.

If you wanted to go a step futher then you can buy soundproofing foam.

There's a few links here for you, but google is well worth a punt on this subject, there's loads out there

Thanks all, yes it's electric and he has earphones, but one day he has a bit of a jam with his mates, so earphones not really practical! Will look into it further, thanks for your ideas! :)

Get a headphone amp then everyone can play together!

Wait a minute ... he plays the guitar, but you've got to soundproof the room so he can play with his mates?

What's wrong with this scenario?
