View Full Version : Jump Tomorrow
The Back Story:
I'm flying back from Johannesburg to Heathrow last month and the plane I'm on has one of those screen thingies that you can pick the movie you want to see. Planet Of the Apes - nope seen that, Tomb Raider - don't want to see that, on and on through the list until I come to a movies called Jump Tomorrow. I'd read a review about this and it sounded pretty good so decided to plump for that. Anyway, due to my stupidity and my watch (which seems to reset itself every time I cross the equator - don't know what that's about  ) and sleeping on the plane so much, I didn't get a chance to start looking at it until well into my flight.
It started off pretty slowly but picked up and I was just getting into the movie when.... "Ladies & gentlemen we will be landing in London in 15 minutes, please stow your tray tables" came over the PA and all of the screens were turned off. Noooooooo! Just when I was starting to enjoy it too. Of course it never got as far as showing in Dublin.
The Question:
So, that's my long way of asking if anyone knows when I'll be released on DVD. I thought (hoped) that seeing that it was an indie film it may be out soon?
Any one help?
It's a film four release so may be subject to their newly introduced rental window, possibly in the next 6 months you'll see it. hvane't seen it myself but liked the short film that inspired it.
BUMP! had a bored evening with a couple of mates and somehow got around to querying why this film never made it to dvd.. only to have my mate, who works in HMV, say 'oh yeah I remember that - they were HMV exclusives' This title along with two others I was after at the time are still available and are listed on HMV's website at a rather bargainous £9.99 apiece. The other two films I was after, which also look rather interesting, were My Brother Tom and This Filthy Earth. Just in case anyone else is interested!!! ;)
Great bump Cat. Thanks for that, I would have never thought of looking for in on the HMV website!
Yeah a mate of mine saw that on a flight to see me in Japan and promply bought the DVD.

Has to be one of the most belated responses to a query ever but glad I could finally help!!!! :D
If you had have waited another 11 days it would have been exactly 18 months from the thread starting
apologies for that - no sense of timing
SteM - did u have any problems with this disc? ( assuming you bought it! ) Picked it up the other day along with My Brother Tom ( also Film Four ) and neither disc will read on my Pioneer DV-350 or PS2 console.. odd to get two faulty discs so wondering if it's a compatability issue.. difficult to establish when not many people seem to have this!!!!
I got it in the post today so I'll check it on my DVD player and PC at home tonight and let you know tomorrow. The disc come loose in transit and got a wee bit scratched but hopefullly it shouldn't be a problem.
Cheers - I bought This Filthy Earth as well but that never made it to the player as it was a rattler and looked as though someone had skated all over it!:( not having much luck with discs at the moment..
I tried that DVD on my player (scan sc2500) and the DVD player on my PC and it worked fine on both. Doesn't look like the scratch has effected it but I'm not sure what's happening with yours.
Are they both Film Four releases?
Yep both Film Four VCI releases. Have tested both discs on my mates player and they play just fine. I could scream!!! bought the ruddy Pioneer DV-350 as it has a reputation for playing anything.. had this grief with my last player and a Film Four release ( Queer as Folk ) I think Film Four re-did that disc but no chance with these! Have tried posting on Pioneers customer support thing so will wait and see if I get any feedback from that b4 I do anything else... failing that it'll be another new player I guess.. any recommendations!??! :(
blimey very quick response so thumbs up for that.. not so keen on the reply mind!
'All our DVD players are manufactured as region 2 only, however we are aware that some dealers are offering an 'upgrade' or 'modification' to make them multi-region compatible but please be advised that any such modification is not approved or authorised by Pioneer and therefore would invalidate the warranty. We would therefore advise you to contact your supplying dealer.'
so back to amazon I guess..

Keep an eye out on the bargin forums - there's always posts about multi region/play anything players over there. I'd recommend the player I have but I don't think it's in production anymore.
Cheers Stem - gonna see if amazon will do a straight swap for the Toshiba SD330 as it's the same price that I paid for the Pioneer.. hopefully will be a case of third player lucky
