For the past couple of years I've had my DVD player connected to a fairly decent pro-logic amp and 5 speaker setup, but I've a feeling I'm missing out on a lot soundwise.
Is the improvement in sound over pro-logic large enough to justify buying a new DD/DTS amp i.e. will the missus notice the difference?
Many thanks for your help, although I'm sure I won't need much convincing.

Everyone here is agreed that the difference between Pro-Logic and DD/DTS is like comparing a Golf GTI to a Ferrari.

Pro-Logic gives you occasional subtle surround effects. DD is full-on surround sound, very impressive with the right films, even more so if you have a subwoofer for the low-frequency channel (something that Pro-Logic does not provide).

DTS is generally regarded to be even better than DD, although by a much smaller margin than Pro-Logic/DD, and possibly only because DTS soundtracks are mastered with greater care and attention than the DD equivalent.

No arguments, get yourself a DD/DTS amp

Agreed. Upgrading to DD/DTS is possibly the most effective and noticable improvement you can make in home entertainment, (even more impressive than the VHS/DVD difference in my opinion).

You won't regret it, especially if you take care in the equipment you buy.

If your amp has 5.1 inputs you can buy the cyberhome dvd player from richersounds for £99,it has onboard dd/dts decoder with 5.1 outputs so you then get a dvd player for the bedroom and a sound upgrade for the bargain price of £99:clap:
