I love the Dixie Chicks and its great to have a new album by them. I own Wide Open Spaces, Fly, Home, Taking The Long Way and An Evening With the Dixie Chicks DVD. Obviously, some of the songs on this latest CD including Not Ready to Make Nice are about the politics and events of the last few years that have kept them out of the spotlight. I've only listened to it a couple of times but it seems to be another very good album.

Although I have to say I own a number of Toby Keith CDs as well. Yes, it is possible to like them both. :D

I love the Dixie Chicks as well, I will be seeing them on Saturday when they support The Eagles (tix still available I think). Loving the new album.

I own Thank Heavens for Dale Evans, Little Ol' Cowgirl, Shouldn't a Told you That, Wide Open Spaces, Fly, Home, TOWT Live and an Evening with the DC DVD. But then I am a Dixie Chicks geek :(

Nice to see them pick up 5 Grammys. And like the single too. (after reading the reason behind it)

I am in Houston this week. I don't what else is going on in the world because Texas is obsessed with two things - Anna Nicole Smith's death and the Dixie Chicks' triumph at the Grammys.

'Taking the Long Way' is the only album of theirs I've ever heard but it is brilliant and I can't recommend it enough to those who like the alt.country side of things. Apparently it is less shiny than their previous stuff - certainly the presence of Rick Rubin and Neil Finn should suggest you're in safe hands. I loved their response to being 'allowed back in' after their Grammys wins. They effectively said they were pleased they'd left those stoopid rednecks behind and were keen to play for a new, edgier audience - something about them being glad they were no longer popular with those people who have Vince Gill or whoever in the CD changer in the pickup.

Plus, I saw a trailer for the documentary movie 'Shut up and Sing', which follows them during their annus horriblis. A cracking scene where Bush comments on the situation with some typically poor grammar and you cut to Natalie reading it from a paper, more offended by how he's expressed himself. It cuts away before her last word but she goes "You dumb -."

I saw them live in Houston in 2003 at the height of all the controversy. There was loads of security and we had to go through metal detectors just to get into the gig. They were expecting huge protests, but in the end there was only one Hank Hill lookalike with his wife.

Great show, the only thing I took exception to was when Natalie made a speech about freedom of speech etc and then during the next song they showed images of various "freedom fighters" - the likes of Mandela, Martin Luther King - and Gerry Adams and Martin McGuiness!

I've watched the Documentary 'Shut up and Sing' and it's fantastic. This is the only album i own from the Dixie Chicks and it's really top notch.

I recommend the film aswell.
