Hi guys,

Why is there such a big gap this season in Smallville? 16th Feb -> 30th March is a pretty big mid season gap. Did someone fancy a holiday or something?

After Ep 200 I imagine they are actually getting writers who have balls and can make a programme worth of the central characters premise

200 was so bad I sold the box sets of season 1 to 4 on and gave up watching

Oh yeah,

Don't get me wrong. This season has been dismal, I'm only struggling on with it in the hope that they might come up with a decent story line one day. It's just sooooooooooooooooooooooo repetitive, and the characters are just plain annoying.

I (ducks for cover) quite like it - really enjoy it.

Looking forward to getting back into it.

Mind you, i joined it late and watched 102 episodes in 8 weeks to catch up!!!

Yes i just caught up in time for a 6 week break!!!

Does anybody know if this will be shown on Channel 4? I was still watching season 4 on DVD when this started on E4 so didn't start watching it.

"Lexmas" was the worst episode ever. I couldnt believe how crap it was, I mean how does an episode like that pass QA?

This season has been pretty rubbish.

Me too, one of the better episodes that Smallville have produced, miles better than the standard monster of the week nonsence.

Should be they usually show it on T4 on a Sunday.Mind you they have been known to cut it because of the earlier time slot.

It might have been an OK one off episode if it was watched at Christmas time.

When it is to be shown in March it may as well have been cut down to 5 minutes...

A totally hackneyed cliche of an episode that was totally enjoyable.

Get over it. Where's your Christmas spirit? ;)

Its just that for me it didnt fit at all with anything that had come before. It was like the writers said "screw everything we've done before, lets make up a compeletly ramdom episode that has nothing to do with anything and include as much barf inducing honey covered xmas crap as possible". I mean santa being real? How on earth does that fit in with anything?

But fine, im over it. Lets just leave it as you ejoyed and I thought it was the worst episode ever made.

Well apart from blatanly being the first smallville Christmas episode. Which I applaud. It was a very important turning point for Lexs character, that was blatantly clear wasn't it?

That I agree with, its the way it was done that made me :gag:

Oh, and I dont understand why a show like smallville needs a "xmas" episode?

Ok here's another who kinda enjoyed the Lexmas episode too. The whole Clark delivering pressies and was pretty bad but the Lex side of the story I found rather fun and even a tad interesting. Seeing Lex as "normal" everyday bloke reacting to his wife dying was great. Much better than most episodes this season by far.

going back to the OP's original question, there's nothing unusual about this mid/late season break at all. the last three seasons have broke for the following periods: 25 Feb - 15 Apr, 3 Mar - 14 Apr, 2 Mar - 13 Apr.

i don't watch alias but isn't the extended break (4 months) due to garner's pregnancy? think it's back on in the next few weeks.

I enjoyed that episode, especially this bit:

Lana dying - unfortuantly not horrifically, but hey they killed her thankfully.......worst character in the show :(
