Guess you could call this a public service post. ;)

Seems in every TV thread I go into you get posts along the lines of "OMG! IMDB says that the next episode guest stars Clint Eastwood, Samantha Fox and the ghost of Sid James!" only to find none of the above when watching the episode.

This is because any random internet nerd can add info to it, thus ending up with half of Hollywood apparently going to star in every other episode of 24. So please, for the sake of the children, stop the 'IMDB says...' posts. :D

Don't forget Ryan Chappelle Jnr. who was supposed to appear in a few episodes of last season. Must have missed those.

The amount of proof I had to supply to get a couple of my films listed in there means someone is checking things... seems crazy that they wouldn't check updates on major tv shows though!

I suppose the "movie" bit in the name gives it away. IMDB Probably don't take as much care or doesn't care about the TV part of it. There are plenty of other dedicated accurate TV sites out there.

I thought any new info added by readers was checked out before being posted on the site?Who by? Some all-seeing, all-knowing genius? IMDB is full of plenty of useful information, but it also contains a lot of complete nonsense. In acquaintance once added Richard Simmons to the cast of several movies. A week or so later, hey presto! Richard Simmons is in Blade Runner!

The IMDB currently lists a new episode of Ultimate Force assuming a 4th series.

I wish!

Cast listings can be verified (sure it used to say something to that effect), but they don't have to be. Major films usually are, or are harvested off corporate literature anyway. TV series info is more vague.

It's true anyone can post info (there's some garbage of mine in there from more than 10 years ago :D), though you can also post corrections.

Same goes for wikipedia too. Though a fountain of knowledge, there's a lot of inaccuracies there.
