I've watched the first few episodes of this and am fairly impressed with it thus far. My biggest worry though is that there is a bit of a 'Threshold' feel to proceedings and the last thing I want to do is go through another series of unrealised potential with no character development. The 2 main characters are remarkably similar to the 2 in Threshold as well which is worrying.
Is it worth my valuable time? I haven't heard of them making a 2nd series so if this is just a one season deal i don't think i'll bother.
Thanks guys
There are 2 series already. A mini series from 2004 and the longer 2005 series. Which are you watching?
FYI, I thought series 2 was better than series 1 and introduced a bit more plot. So the question above is valid.

I've been watching the recent showings on Sky3 so i'm presuming from the beginning.
The episodes shown on Sky 3 are from the beginning. I stuck with it throughout the first series but didn't think it was one of the better shows that was around at the time so didn't bother with the second lot.
I watched it up to about episode 5 or 6 of the second season but gave up on it. It's rare I stop watching a show but with so much TV to watch something had to go. It's not a bad show but I lost interest in it.
Well usually I’m the first to agree with the mods, however in this case they are both wrong. :D
I found the first series good, although at times it did seam to head down that early X-Files feel to it (not that there’s anything wrong with that, just that it was done first & better on the X-Files).
The last episode of season 1 however did raise the bar & a lot of questions.
I started to watch the 2nd season hopeing that:
a. It actually carried on from where it left on, & addressed the questions it asked.
b. It broke away from an X-Files structure, & found its own legs.
I was not disappointed on both counts. Season 2 had a great story arch that actually seamed to conclude what it was building up to, then chucked in a few more things to resolve.
Well worth keeping with it & to get round to watching Season 2.
I enjoyed the first series a lot. However I've still got 6 eps of the 2nd series to watch.
I WANT to watch them but can't seem to make time.

It was always one of those shows I taped but never really made it to the top of my to watch list, however each time I did watch it I always thought wow that was good. Really enjoyed both seasons and they did build up to a nice finish on the second series really looking forward to the third.
As posted above very underated.

Season 1 seemed like a good rip off of the Xfiles, with a different 4400 featuring each week. I thought that the 2nd season would be a lot more of the same, but thankfully I was wrong...
The second season was fantastic, and had some great story arcs that covered most of the season. Yes, there is the occasional lone episode like those from the first season, but for these rarities I found the story telling to be much bolder; the many ongoing stories that followed the lead characters were totally original and managed to pull me right in, which is something the Xfiles failed to do.
Roll on Season 3.

Top stuff, Season 1 was good but Season 2 was much better and varied than the first. I too can not wait for Season 3 after the cliffhanger end to S2.
Seems to have a small fanbase so i hope it keeps going.

Great series. S1 was slow but built up to a good ending. Apart from on odd episode, S2 was unmissable. Rumours were that they were making S3 and S4 back-to-back

I thought the first season of the 4400 was extremely weak and came across as a cheap X Files meets Taken... Inferior to both in every respect.
The second season was much better and defined its own identity. Although I still don't think the 4400 is particularly strong with most of the episodes just being okay. I would say that it is highly overrated and you only need to go back and revisit early X Files to see the difference in quality. This is disposable television at best.

Season 1 was excellent.
I know lots of people who gave up after a few episodes, but when I told them what happened in the season finalé, they ended up buying the DVDs to give it another go. They enjoyed it a lot more having this new knowledge.
I have Season 2 on pre-order. Can't wait :)

I enjoyed season 1. Watched the first four or five episodes of 2 and suddenly thought 'why am I watching this ******* garbage?' :D
My girlfriend and her family love it though.

I watched the whole of S1 and thought it was pretty good, but then got bored and gave up around halfway through S2.

Did you catch season 2? Or is that just from the admittedly rather dull mini-series?
Season 2 started off well and had some really interesting episodes but it started getting way to weird and wandered all over the place by the end.
Didnt realise it was starting again so soon. Hopefully it can only get better.
