Thought this was a decent enough bargain to mention on here, 18 AA Alkaline batteries for just £1 at your local Poundland.

Ideal for remote controls and kids toys etc.

Previous best was 8 in a pack so 18 is pretty good. Branded as Hyundai.

Alright if you want 10 miutes use.
Bought a load last week and useless. My boy wears them out in a few minutes of use.

The price is very cheap, so thanks for the post. But note that batteries = very bad for environment when thrown away. We should all be trying to use rechargeables.

Agree, still loads cheaper than any regular batteries.

Are they really alkaline ?
Usually these cheap packs are the rubbish zinc carbide batteries with an extremely short life.

Not all useages are suitable for rechargeables. Its not really worth putting rechargables in very low drain devices like remote controls or in devices you don't use very often like torches ( as when you come to use them you find they have self drained)
