View Full Version : Loewe tellys Whats the deal????
See a lot of people getting a bit excited about these!!
So whats the deal?? Doesn't seem to be a lot of places sell them.
Any high street retailers sell these so I can go have a look??
Who's all got one?
Where did you get it and how much and was it worth it??

Our local Howells (House of Fraser) in Cardiff stocks them, and also a specialist hi-fi retailer Sevenoaks aswell. Sevenoaks have many branches across the country - possibly one near you, not sure though. Seem over priced to me for what they are. They are good quality, but maybe not worth the money being asked - they can be more expensive than some of the top range Sonys.
They are meant to be a cracking TV, but there seems to be some big differences between the cheap ranges and the expensive ones, some being very flat tubes and others quite goldfishy.
Debenhams also stock them, though it depends on the size of your store and as said all House of Frasers do, plus I think John Lewis might have some as well. I would be interested in which you go for if you do as I am looking for a new TV and I may be able to get a Loewe at trade.
Well my nearest city is Aberdeen and there's a big John Lewis and also Sevenoaks there I'm pretty sure there is a House of Fraser too so looks like over the next fortnight I'll be having a sneaky peak at these to see if i can figure out what the fuss is about!

The 100Hz processing on Loewe is very severe, though some of the newer ranges may be better in this regard.

Overpriced style objects IMHO.
They do tend to get good reviews but for the price you might get a good sony and a projector...

The one's I've seen have been unimpressive. The quality was about as good as the Wharfdales I see on display at Tesco's (OK, maybe not THAT bad, but nothing to write home about IMO). My Sony Wega still beats the pants off it.

Ive read through the previous posts and have to say that either people havent really looked at these sets or they just dont know much about them!
So I will give my INFORMED opinion. This is based on a demo of Loewe Aconda & Vitros 32" against Sony, Panny, Phillips & Tosh top of the range 36" sets.
1. 36" sets all seem to have various problems, from convergence to smearing or blurred moving images.
The Loewes were far superior in all these areas, giving amazing picture quality with excellent contrast, colour & clarity.
I checked the 32" versions against the Loewes and although these sets performed better than there 36" versions, however the Loewes were still superior in my opinion.
2. The Loewes did lose out on sound quality, but it was only marginal. I will use my seperate processor & power amp as the sound quality far exceeds any TV so I wasnt that bothered, but others may want to consider this.
3. The Loewes are upgradable, so you can add a multi media kit, Dolby Digital, wireless speakers & head phones, VGA, DVB.
NONE of the other sets could be upgaded in this way, so what you see is ALL you can EVER get!
With Digital TV becoming the norm soon, thats worth considering.
4. The designs and colours available give you more scope to find a set that actually blends in rather than stick out like a sore thumb!
5. Theres no doubt that a 36" set is more impressive because of its size, but it loses out in picture quality, so I think theres still a little more work to be done there.
By the way I spent around 70 mins looking at these sets and eliminating them one by one.
I hope this helps someone!
Loewes are more than just a pretty face!:D
