I really like the look of the Konica Z5 and Z6 camera and the spec would really be more than what I need. However I can only seem to find the Z5 in silver and really dislike it.

Can anyone suggest a decent camera for me please.

About 200quid.

10-12 Optical Zoom
5-6 Megapixels
And looks nice!!!!
So many nasty looking things out there.

Cheers

I think that looks cool and sounds decent but I really cant afford to spend more than about the 200 mark as I need a memory card aswell which will be 50quid.

Get a cheaper memory card - you can get a gig one from amazon for 25 pound if you're using SD. Then you have 25 extra to spend on the camera. Get the FZ5 man, don't be ghey.

I take it people really rate this camera. Whats so special about it?

Well it's better than yours, that's for starters!

What a daft question. Well, it's got great opti zoom, Leica lens, image stabilisation, 5Mp... more than enough for you, quizmaster.

Im a noob surely you can tell I have no idea what im on about therefore I was after opinions and I do thank you for yours and the chances are unless anyone else suggests anything I will go with the FZ5.

If you have a price range and a shortlist of cameras within it withthe features that you want, these two sites are pretty good for reviews;

http://www.steves-digicams.com/best_cameras.html

I've not researched the long zoom compacts myself, so can't really offer any suggestions, I'm afraid.

Canon A620...BUT...NO 10 - 12 optical zoom, just the 4. Manual & auto give great results & it's a great learning tool before the dreaded upgrade to poverty inducing DSLR.
HTH...

I own the A610 myself (5mp little brother to the A620 :) ). They are great cameras, but I'd hesitate to recommend one to someone looking for a super zoom compact - the 4x really isn't that long. Canon do do a powershot with long zoom (the S2?) but I think it's out of the op's price range.

To the op - there's a comparitive review of the Konica and Panasonic here (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonicfz5/page6.asp).

Panasonic will be good if my Panny FZ30 is anything to go by.

To translate the list of features above:

great opti zoom - how far you can zoom in by. Can't find the spec sheet for this camera but I'm assuming its what, 10-12x optical. Anyway thats loads.

Leica lens - A very well renowned lens making company, meaning the optical quality of the camera's lens will be very good.

image stabilisation - A mechanism built into the camera to counteract the shaking of your hands while taking a photo. Allows you to take good, sharp photos at lower shutter speeds.

5Mp - The megapixel rating of the camera. Shove this into google with printable sizes and you'll find out how big a picture you can print out without seeing degredation of the image/it turning out rubbish. As a guide my 4MP can print upto A4, and my 8MP can print out to A3.
