Episodes 1 & 2
hmmmm. Well this ain't no Arrested Development and no matter what anyone says, such comparisons are bound to be made. The faux-docu style is similar and the familial set-up is similar (albeit resolutely 'middle class' so they can remain 'identifiable' to middle America, just like Everybody loves Raymond) but the humour isn't there. Plain and simple this just isn't funny and a lot of it seems self consciously forced.
Mixing a glug of Arrested Development with a dash of Curb Your Enthusiasm does not automatically a decent comedy make.
What do other people think? I really wanted to like this but it's just too smug, too self aware and plain not funny. At least there wasn't a laugh track, that's something I suppose!
Arrested Development has set the bar so high for tv comedy I have a feeling there's going to be an awful lot of these also rans for years to come.
I wonder if it'll find an audience? I'm not sure I can bare to endure another episode though.

I was expecting this to be rubbish but I really liked it. I think the comparisons to Arrested Development were a bit over the top though - it reminded me of Curbed more than AD. It's got a pretty good reaction from viewers and critics in the states, and debuted with over 10 million viewers, so I see it sticking around for a while. (fingers crossed) :)

I was surprised that I liked it as much as I did. The 13-year-old daughter is brutal! Very much like the kids that age I teach.

Best new euphemism for sex between old married folk: "like throwing a wrench in a closet"

Wasn't bad, seen worse, probably keep watching it though as bored.

I agree about the 13 year old girl, she rocks, although with such a large family I dont know how I'll keep up!

Just got round to watching this and I see it's already been axed :(

I enjoyed it. Really likeable cast and very funny. I thought it had loads of potential.
