External DVD via USB1 - can I play dvds?

I know USB is 12Mbit/s and the max DVD rate is almost 10Mbit/s but will I be able to play dvds smoothly via USB 1. thanks

You'll probably get stuttering, and jerkyness every now and again (which is probably quite annoying) but it should be fine. I played some DVDs on my external USB drive, but soon went up to USB2, and then an internal, so never had a 'long term' test with it.
