Just read on BBC text that this date has been confirmed, but it did not say whether this was a worldwide release date, or the specs. It also stated that there are rumours of an August DVD release for Episode II, although that seems false, as it'd be a mere 12 weeks after the cinema release date.

They probably will wait until september, so people watching the DVDs will want to go and see the second film in the cinema.

Peter Jackson was against releasing these movies to DVD until all had a cinema release so I wouldn’t be surprised to see bare bones discs in 2002, 2003 and 2004 with a Sp Ed package of all three late 2004.

Oh well, good things come to those who wait... and that box set could well be the best trlogy of all time by the tme it's finished, only the godfather could maybe beat it to the best trilogy of all time, if the second 2 are as good as the first, or, miraculously, even better!

hope they dont split the feature over 2 discs to fit in the dts track like pearl harbour.....that would suck :(

Star Wars, Indie, BTTF, Iron Eagle?

BTTF: 10/10. BTTF2: 10/10. BTTF: 8/10

I said if LOTR was as good as the first one's been, then as far as I'm concerend, they're all 10/10, wich makes it better than BTTF, but the 2nd 2 haven't come yet, all I said was "if" they were as good as FOTR.

Indie: yeah, pretty much 10/10, but i'm sure one of the films is an 8 or 9. Godfather: 10,10 and 9 for part 3.

Never seen Iron Eagle, so can't comment. :)

This is really strange, today I read in the DVD Monthly that EIV has confirmed that the Region 2 version will be released 27th August 2002. This was agreed by the studio and the region 1 version should have a directors commentary. They have a full page on this. But of course who wants to have a EIV disc.

Unless they give it a "Se7en" style treatment, but I'd expect a better dvd release even that then 7 set

But for the real thing we still have to wait till 2004 as than we will be getting the Directors cut, which will be the ultimate version to have. But that was not possible to release in the cinema as the children cannot watch it.

Iron Eagle and greatest trilogy in the same sentence is called taking the pee pee! :)

As for LOTR being the best trilogy ever, well, it could be, just have to wait and see what the next two films are like. But somehow, I don't think it will beat Back To The Future, though it might give Indy a run for his money - IMO.

As for worst trilogy ever - can Episode 1, 2, and 3 count! ;)

They sure can count! But I'm still amazed at LOTR and how great it was when i saw it yesterday... read my review at th t900th dimension. :)
