Embedded comments?

I think this is possible, correct me if I'm wrong, but ...

Whats the best way of doing this? I copy and rename a lot of my photos, and would like to embed the original file name into the image, and possibly a few comments like location, and anything else of interest etc.

i use exif tool: http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/

may or may not be of use to you. it says it works with activeperl so you can run it on windows.

It's ITPC data rather than EXIF isn't it?
