My father-in-law has a pc in the living room downstairs and his son has a pc in his bedroom upstairs. What hardware would he have to buy to network them so they both share the same 2mb internet connection? Also how much would he be looking at?
I know wireless would be the easiest way to do it but i still don't know what exactly needs to be bought.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Bryan
You could do it cheaply with 2 wireless pci cards or usb wireless dongles and set up an ad-hoc network for about £20-£25!
Ps I have one for sale

So would those wireless cards allow them to share the same internet connection? I.E the USB broadband modem installed in the master PC?

Yes the only drawback is that the PC with the modem attached needs to be on for the other to connect to the net!
I had this set up myself until I reciently upgraded to a router/modem as the kids whinged when I turned my PC off of a night!
I am no expert but happy to offer my limited knowlege/experience.
A better solution would be a wireless router and either one or two wireless pci cards or dongles.
